Ashes To Ashes EpisodesSeason 1

Back To Pazsaz Entertainment Network's Ashes To Ashes Page

  • Episode 1
Alex opens her eyes to find herself in a drugs bust in 1981, dressed like a prostitute and part of the fantasy world imagined by Sam Tyler, the DCI she had been studying. DCI Gene Hunt, DC Chris Skelton and DS Ray Carling arrive with all guns blazing. They accuse yuppie Edward Markham of being behind the crime, but Alex is convinced that the young Layton is the mastermind behind it. Catching Layton might be the only way for Alex to grab control of her destiny. Will it be the trigger that gets her out of this fantasy, back to her old life and her daughter Molly?

  • Episode 2
Gene's patience is tested when a family barricade themselves in their docklands pub in protest at the plans for it to be demolished. In the same area, an unlucky dog falls victim to an explosion and a note is found at the scene, promising that the next bomb will target Thatcherite developer Danny Moore. Alex meets the pastel-suited developer and falls for his yuppie charms, happily accepting a spin in his Delorean and a trip to the legendary Blitz club, where they bump into a heavily made-up and rather embarrassed DC Skelton. Alex gets one more surprise when her lawyer mother appears, representing the suspected bomber.

  • Episode 3
To the amusement of the officers, prostitute Trixie pays a visit to the station claiming she has been raped on a party boat. The ever-sensitive Gene dismisses her story until she shows them her wounds, which match those of another murdered girl. The team begin a hunt for a possible serial attacker. They head undercover to check out the suspect at a fancy-dress party on the boat, but their cover is blown while making their arrest. They have no evidence to charge the suspect until Ray shows his softer side and gets the young girl to break her silence. She gives them the evidence they need - she was the rape victim, not Trixie.

  • Episode 4
The investigation leads them to a feminist socialist group connected with the victim. He has been leaking them information from Edgehampton - the government nuclear weapons facility where he worked. Things get murkier when photos of Alex's mother in a compromising position with Evan are found at Kennedy's workshop. Gene is convinced she has a motive for the murder. Using fake ID badges and a deciphered code, Alex and Gene break into a secure vault at Edgehampton looking for more clues. Tensions and temperatures rise when they get locked in the dark and airless vault.

  • Episode 5
Thinking they are about to bust a major drug deal, they tail him to a swanky hotel. But the room raid only uncovers a suitcase of sex toys and Neary's confused boyfriend Marcus. A mole in Neary's gang spills the beans about an arms deal in the pipeline, making Alex believe that stopping the guns will lead her back to her old life and her daughter. To get closer to Neary, they need to get Marcus on side and the team go undercover. Alex leads them to a gay club and Ray is volunteered to use his macho charm to seduce Neary, proving to Marcus that his boyfriend is not what he appears. With Marcus on side, they plan to bring down Neary and the arms deal. As the team get into position, something isn't right; shots are fired and the team speed into action.

  • Episode 6
Chas is brought in for questioning but admits his adrenalin-fuelled life of crime is over as he is now too ill. This news makes Gene question whether he is also getting past his prime. Ray and Chris are sent undercover to a local pub to get more clues, but find themselves distracted by a brand new computer game - Space Invaders. They eventually come up trumps when they track down a suspect, Billy Dane. But to the team's frustration, Billy has a water-tight alibi. The trail turns cold until Billy's body is found on wasteland and his seven-year-old nephew Donny is the only witness. Alex puts her own life in danger when she goes to question the murder suspect and it's up to Gene to muster all the strength in his old bones to save her.

  • Episode 7
Alex decides that a reconstruction on TV show Police 5, and the help of Shaw "keep 'em peeled" Taylor, will help find the perpetrator. Gill has no memory of the attack, so Alex takes him back to the scene to jog his memory. His behaviour becomes erratic and Alex realises he has obsessive-compulsive disorder. Alex's clown warns her that someone is going to die and she fights to keep control of the case. But Gene decides to deal with things in his usual, violent way and Alex is terrified that his actions will lead to a death. Gene finally gets a break that proves Gill's story is not quite so straightforward and Alex finds herself trying to save the life of one of the team.

  • Episode 8
She believes that if she can save her parents, she'll get home to her daughter Molly in 2008, and so embarks on a mission to change history. With the help of a reluctant and baffled Ray, they destroy the car she thinks her parents died in. Meanwhile, back at the station Lord Scarman pays a visit and Gene will stop at nothing to give a good impression. Alex arrests her parents for drug possession and locks them up overnight, in a bid to keep them in her sights and prevent the newly released prisoner Arthur Layton from blowing them up. But time is running out and she cannot keep them in custody. As Alex and Gene race to where the bomb is set to go off, it seems everything's in place as it was 27 years ago. But will Alex's efforts be enough to save her parents and get her back to 2008?
