Frank spars with a journalist who protects her source at all costs, even though the source admits to being a killer. Elsewhere, Danny participates in an NYPD program that requires him to mentor a troubled teen. A celebrity chef from reality TV is murdered and a suspect readily confesses to the crime, but Danny and Baez think there's more to the case. Elsewhere, a senator uses his friendship with Frank to ask for a favor regarding a DUI charge. The NYPD deputy chief and his wife are killed in a probable gang hit, so Frank makes this case a top priority and Danny and Baez visit an infamous gang member. One of the Reagans is shot by a gang member, and Danny pursues a suspect while trying to keep his emotions in check. To add to the complications, Danny has to find an inventive way to bring in witnesses.
