    Political boss Enoch "Nucky" Thompson brokers a sale of illegal booze for visiting New York gangster Arnold Rothstein, and takes an interest in a local housewife with an abusive husband. Meanwhile, World War I veteran and Thompson protege Jimmy Darmody meets a hoodlum from Chicago named Al Capone.

  • The Ivory Tower
    Nucky is evasive when Van Alden questions him about a recent crime spree, but makes sure to cover his tracks with all the relevant parties. Meanwhile, a high-profile murder in Chicago draws different reactions from Arnold Rothstein and Al Capone; the Commodore gives Nucky his opinion on women's suffrage; and Jimmy scrambles to repay an important debt.

  • Boardwalk Limited
    Nucky, Van Alden and Rothstein each take a special interest in a hospital patient who may have news about the murders in the woods. Meanwhile, Chalky's assumption of Mickey Doyle's bootleg business gets off to a rough start; Margaret is given a job at a French boutique on the boardwalk; and Jimmy heeds Nucky's advice to make travel plans.

    Jimmy makes the rounds with Al Capone in Chicago, though the two budding gangsters don't always agree on their business methods. Meanwhile, Nucky lobbies powerful politicians, including a U.S. senator, for more road access to Atlantic City; Chalky and Elias try to solve a recent murder; and Lucky Luciano finds a surprise on a visit to Jimmy's apartment.

  • Nights In Ballygran
    Failing to get an audience with Nucky, who is preoccupied with the upcoming St. Patrick's Eve festivities, Margaret goes to Van Alden with a tip about secret shipments of beer. Meanwhile, in Chicago, Jimmy cares for the victim of an underworld attack; and in New York, Arnold Rothstein reads about the 1919 World Series scandal in the press.

  • Family Limitation
    Jimmy hatches a plan to give Johnny Torrio the upper hand in his escalating feud with Charlie Sheridan over Chicago's Greektown. Meanwhile, in Atlantic City, Nucky blames a recent robbery on the boardwalk on Lucky Luciano, who is also accused by Arnold Rothstein of being distracted from his current assignment; and Margaret benefits from having friends in high places.

  • Home
    Nucky decides to renovate his childhood home after his father is injured in a fall, but the youthful memories it dredges up are hard to swallow. Meanwhile, a fellow veteran helps Jimmy get even with one of Charlie Sheridan's henchmen; Lucky Luciano offers to provide financial backing to the D'Alessio brothers; and Van Alden cuts a deal for information about an unsolved murder spree.

  • Hold Me In Paradise
    Nucky wields his influence at the National Republican Convention in Chicago, where he asks an old acquaintance to help him with a sudden crisis in Atlantic City. Meanwhile, Arnold Rothstein prepares for his testimony in the Black Sox Scandal; Van Alden bristles at his wife's request for an unorthodox procedure; and Gillian urges Angela to get a job.

  • Belle Femme
    Jimmy returns from Chicago to help his old boss in his escalating war with his rivals, but is given a rude welcome by Van Alden. Meanwhile, the D'Alessio brothers are introduced to an important patron in New York; Margaret helps Madame Jeunet save her boutique; and Nucky shakes up the city's leadership pecking order.

  • The Emerald City
    Nucky circles the wagons in his escalating feud with Arnold Rothstein, who rebukes the D'Alessio gang for a recently botched assassination attempt. Meanwhile, Van Alden shows signs of cracking as his investigation begins to unravel; Margaret celebrates the ratification of the 19th Amendment; and Al Capone tells Johnny Torrio he's ready for more responsibility.

  • Paris Green
    Nucky's fear of the consequences of an impending electoral disaster forces him to make changes in the administrative pecking order. Meanwhile, Jimmy is ambivalent about the health of an ailing family member; Van Alden questions Sebso's commitment to their calling; and Rothstein's lawyer advises him to face the World Series scandal head-on.

  • A Return To Normalcy
    Nucky wonders how Election Day will change Atlantic City, while Johnny Torrio tries to play peacemaker for two bitter rivals.
