Jessica Alba's big surprise for her parents? A remodeled kitchen designed by Kari Whitman! The bigger job for Kari - hiring a new assistant! Will the interviews prove to be as comically painful as Kari imagines? After a shopping excursion for the ultimate Italian farm sink, Kari's idea of a perfect evening is a night on the town with her best girlfriend and beloved canines at a fashion-forward dog show. The next day it's back to business and on her way for a granite countertop, Kari rushes to the rescue of what appears to be a stray dog in the parking lot. Turns out the dog has an owner, though he may not be, by the time Kari gets through with him! Kari's nonstop work schedule finally catches up with her and with not time to get sick she chooses a most unusual get-well remedy, courtesy of a house call from a most unusual doctor. The big day arrives and the Alba family gathers en masse to see their brand-new kitchen. Will Jessica's surprise be a success?

Virginia's dream is to recreate a Hawaiian paradise in her living room Kari needs to find the perfect Polynesian pieces all the while battling her new arch-enemy, her car navigation system, which seems intent on getting Kari as lost as possible. As if battling her car and trying to renovate Virginia's living room isn't enough, Kari takes on a new assignment: to find a rescue dog for her visiting mother, who hopes to fly back to Colorado with a new dog. Kari heads to a shelter and finds a dog... but placing it with Mom proves to be somewhat of a challenge. Midway through the living room makeover, Kari hits the antique and lighting stores only to return to some strange-looking hula figures being painted on Virginia's wall. Not exactly what she had in mind! At the end of a hectic work day, it's time for Kari to party at a hot red-carpet fashion show, but on her way to the show, Kari spots an Animal Control truck in front of her which can only mean one thing - a dog on its way to the pound. Speeding after the truck, can Kari save the dog's life before it's too late? It's the day of the big reveal and Kari's in a panic. She arrives at Virginia's house with a truck full of furniture. Way too much furniture. After only a few hours to decide what stays and what goes, Kari unveils to Virginia and her son, Jack, their new, Hawaiian-themed oasis.

Actor Kurtwood Smith and his wife Joan, want to redesign their bathroom, hopefully making it more romantic. Before delivering promised tile samples, Kari's called to the rescue of Boomer, who's just been hit by a car. Then it's off to make a bid on potential new client, actor Mario Lopez, whose hot bod is as interesting to Kari as his expansive living room! Then it's back to check in on the Smith job, before Kari ends her day at the home of Boomer's potential new owner, who Kari hopes have what it takes to be a good pet parent. A shopping trip with her clients to a lighting store finds Kurtwood making more wisecracks than purchase decisions, but they finally find what they're looking for and once back at the condo, Kari continues interviewing for a new assistant, and the pickings are slim! From there, it's off to a hockey game, but not before Kari demonstrates her personalized feeding style with her dogs! Finally, the Smith bathroom is done and Kari can't resist testing a technologically advanced toilet. Will the Smiths like the rest of her innovations?

Kristen Bell
Kari's new client, "Veronica Mars" star Kristen Bell, like Kari, is a dog lover. Kristen wants to transform her backyard into a doggie paradise that's also a people hangout. Who better to create such a space? The weekend arrives, and Kari does what she does most weekends: a pet adoption, where she hopes to place abandoned dogs with responsible owners. One sad-eyed pooch, Ella, captures Kari's heart, and leaves with a prospective new owner. After approving the work-in-progress at Kristen's backyard, Kari's on a shopping trip to Beverly Hills, accompanied by her two dogs and from there, it's off to Venice Beach, where Kari and her assistant try out a wheeled contraption tailor-made for dog walking. The next day, hockey buff Kari gets an on-ice lesson from an NHL star but then it's off the ice and into the dirt, to show off her planting skills at the Bell backyard. As the job nears completion, Kari makes a beeline for L.A's best flower mart before unveiling the pet-friendly backyard for Kristen and her dogs.
