  • Pilot
When his father dies in a mysterious plane crash, lawyer Nick George reluctantly accepts an offer from billionaire Tripp Darling to take over Nick's father's job as chief counsel for the obscenely wealthy and influential Darling family. In the course of his hectic first day as the Darlings' personal lawyer, Nick discovers some of the various legal and illegal needs of the Darling family's five adult children.

  • The Lions
Nick tries to find out who killed his father with the help of airplane mechanic and Darling aficionado Norman Exley. Juliet sulks in her new luxury hotel digs and refuses to participate in an important high-end photo shoot for the family involving trained lions. Tripp pressures Patrick to announce he's running for the Senate, even as his son continues to woo his secret lover, the transgendered Carmelita. Jeremy strikes up a secret romance with Juliet's biggest nemesis, notorious celebutante Natalie Kimpton, and Brian drops his illegitimate son in Nick's lap.

  • The Italian Banker
Unbeknownst to Tripp, Nick finds himself in full damage control mode when a blackmailer surfaces and demands ransom for a sex tape featuring one of the Darlings. Meanwhile, Patrick is forced to break off his affair with Carmelita (Candis Cayne), plunging him into deep despair; Brian's wife figures out that the "Swedish orphan" (actually Brian Jr.) he brought to live with them speaks English; and Jeremy struggles to keep his assignations with Juliet's archenemy, Natalie, a secret - but when both women show up at Patrick's Senate campaign fundraiser, a red carpet catfight ensues.

  • The Chiavennasca
At Tripp's behest, Nick travels to a vineyard in Italy to meet with a spy who may know more about the death of Nick's father. Nick appeases his wife Lisa's annoyance with his focus on the Darlings by taking her with him. But their romantic idyll is broken - repeatedly - by Karen and Freddy, who decide to tag along everywhere. Letitia confirms to Tripp that she had been unfaithful to him throughout their marriage. Heartbroken, he becomes hell-bent on determining if all of his children are biologically his. Meanwhile, Jeremy struggles to keep his affair with Juliet's archenemy a secret, and Brian Jr. needs his dad's help to battle a bully at school.

  • The Bridge
Nick finally has a meeting with Tripp's nemesis, billionaire Simon Elder, and finds he has more in common with Simon than he imagined. Since Darling twins Juliet and Jeremy are feuding over Jeremy's affair with Natalie Kimpton, they decide to throw separate birthday parties for themselves, each budgeted at $1 million dollars. Trying to outdo the other, Jeremy has his party on the Brooklyn Bridge, while Juliet's party has a French Revolution theme, complete with life-size chocolate aristocrats. And Brian Jr. feels the need to tell Brian's wife the truth about his paternity, while Karen presses to help get her fianc, Freddy, into a prestigious country club.

Nick finally has a meeting with Tripp's nemesis, billionaire Simon Elder, and finds he has more in common with Simon than he imagined.

  • The Wedding
Karen's cold feet about marrying Freddy cause drama as her wedding day arrives, and Lisa suspects that Nick is the reason why. Brian Jr.'s mother returns after her two-month Brazilian getaway to reclaim her son, to whom Brian Sr. is now attached. As Patrick's senatorial campaign heats up, his wife finds out about his extramarital affair from an unlikely source. Meanwhile, Natalie Kimpton, who has stolen Juliet's bangs as well as her brother, tries to mend fences with Juliet by releasing a pop song with lyrics about forgiveness - but a distrustful Jeremy thinks Natalie is pulling a con.

  • The Country House
Nick and Lisa are looking forward to spending their Thanksgiving holiday together, with no Darlings but all that changes when Tripp demands that Nick set up a face-to-face meeting at the family's country house with a skeptical Simon Elder. During the visit, Letitia initiates her plan to help Karen get the man she really wants, Nick George. Meanwhile, Nick tries to stop Andrea from taking Brian's son away from him; Patrick's wife, Ellen, insists on meeting his transgendered mistress, Carmelita; and Jeremy keeps up his disguise as a poor valet on his first date with Sofa.

  • The Watch
Secrets are revealed through a series of flashbacks regarding Nick's father, Dutch, about his affair with Letitia and his relationships with Nick and Tripp; sparks fly between Simon and Karen; Brian is arrested for trying to bribe the arbitrator into awarding him custody of his son; and Sofa presses Jeremy to show her his apartment, as he scrambles to keep up his charade of poverty and enlists an unlikely ally.

  • The Nutcracker
Nick learns Simon and Karen are secretly seeing each other, but he refuses to admit why it truly bothers him. Karen bails on the family tradition of watching "The Nutcracker" in order to accept Simon's invitation to meet a mysterious person. Brian's suspension from the ministry thrusts him into an existential career crisis, and Letitia suggests he go to Tripp for guidance. Lisa guides Jeremy in his quest to impress Sofia by pretending to be a painter. Meanwhile, Juliet has a visitor from the Seychelles, and Carmelita tells Patrick she thinks she's being watched.
