Back To Pazsaz Entertainment Network's HGTV Design Star Page Design A New York Townhouse Ten aspiring designers compete for the chance to star in their own TV series. Designing To Sell The contestants must improve the appeal of a home that's been on the market for a year by redesigning three rooms, including the kitchen. Wild Card Design The remaining contestants must create different designs for identical living rooms. $10,000 Kitchen Makeover The designers must each create a kitchen-makeover plan. When the best one is chosen by the judges, the others have to carry out the design. Designing With Color Each of the four remaining contestants design a studio apartment around a single color, then lead a tour through the space. Create A Dream Room The last three designers head to a viewer's home, where they are tasked to give a room a $10,000 makeover in 28 hours. Glass Houses The two finalists publicly face off in a challenge that finds them designing the living areas of two glass houses in a New York City park. Viewers vote on the winner, who will be revealed in the finale. And The Winner Is... The 10 contestants reunite and the winner is announced. Also included: episode highlights. A Design Star's Beginning This episode follows David right after he wins HGTV Design Star. While celebrating with his family and friends, he soon learns that his dad is fighting cancer. David then flies to San Francisco to see his father and talk with HGTV producers and executives to pitch ideas for his new series. Learning And Doing As David continues his journey of making his own HGTV show, he learns more about his father's prognosis for cancer. He must also travel to Los Angeles where he hones his hosting skills and goes on the set of Designed to Sell. New Friends, Old Friends As he gets closer to shooting his first show David visits Vern Yip and Kristan Cunningham to learn more about like on television and hosting a show. And... Action! David closes in on his first episode. He discovers who his sidekick will be, meets with Karen McAloon, and finds out who his first family will be. A surprise guest also comes for a special visit.
