Lost premiered on NBC on September 5, 2001. This reality show is a global adventure filled with unexpected twists and turns. Six complete strangers are taken to a private plane and flown for several hours to an undisclosed location somewhere on Planet Earth. Upon arriving at their destination, the six are paired off into three teams of two contestants each. One producer/director/cameraperson, also unapprised of the location, will accompany each team to document their journey - but will only intervene in the event of an emergency. Before takeoff, each of the contestants is searched for unauthorized contraband. They are not allowed to bring any personal items; everything they need is provided for them. They will each receive a sleeping bag, some clothes, essential toiletries, and a backpack to carry the load; they will each receive $100 in cash; and they will each receive two days worth of food. Their mission is to get back to the Statue of Liberty before one of the other two teams gets there first. In doing so, they'll be forced to establish what country they're in, what language is spoken, and what the quickest route home is, all while getting to know (and either like or dislike) their teammate. This is a race - a global race, for sure - but still just a race. There are no missions to complete, or moles to kick off. There are no alliances to form or votes to cast. And there is no host to count them. The teams will have to strategize and make decisions on instinct. They will have to rely on the kindness of strangers and the strength of their determination. Only one team wins, but it is the daring adventures of all three teams that will engage the audience and redefine what it means to be LOST. Carla and Lando won the game by getting to the Statue of Liberty first.
