Orangutan Island EpisodesSeason 1

Back To Pazsaz Entertainment Network's Orangutan Island Page

  • New Beginnings
Time is running out for the orangutans. There is practically no wilderness left for this nomadic, mostly solitary species. But in the heart of Borneo, join Lone and her talented team from the Nyaru Menteng Rescue and Reintroduction Center as they begin to transfer 35 young orphaned orangutans they've raised to a protected sanctuary. On Orangutan Island they will hone their survival skills and hopefully create a communal society. Witness how these orangutans react as they begin life on the island. The youngest male, Saturnus tries to get all the girls' attention although no one is taking him seriously. The feisty Daisy takes the transition in stride while the lovable Cha Cha becomes depressed and goes into crisis now that she is separated from her human support system. And poor Nadi is haunted by her past. Watch as the orphans' new skills are put to the test when a fierce storm hits the island on their first night together. How will they fare, and what does the storm leave lurking in the shadows?

  • The Intruder
As the 35 orangutans continue to settle into their new home, an intruder lurks. But is he a threat to the young community? Meanwhile, the first signs of a fledgling society begin to emerge as Cha Cha's new friendship with Daisy continues to grow. We meet the mischievous "Bandit Boys," a group of young male orangutans whose bond began at the Center. Saturnus, one of the Bandit Boys, concentrates his efforts on gaining Jasmine's affections but is thwarted by the appearance of Hamlet, an older male from a neighboring island who takes Jasmine hostage to exert his dominance on Orangutan Island. Saturnus tries to save Jasmine but is helpless until Daisy leads the Bandit Boys to launch an attack. It's an amazing act of solidarity that would never happen among wild orangutans.

  • Lost
The wet season has arrived, and floods transform the island confronting the young community with dangers never experienced at the Rescue Center. How will the na???ve orphans react? While Saturnus entertains himself with a makeshift toy by the river's edge, the forest-wise Oyoy knows this isn't a place to linger as flood waters rise and crocodiles lurk. The Teknisi, a group of men caring for the orangutans at the Center, discover that Mogok is missing, prompting a search of the entire island. Since orangutans can't swim, this could either mean he is learning to live independently or he is in serious trouble. At the same time, we meet one-eyed Chen Chen, whose dominance is immediately challenged by the return of Hamlet, the threatening, older orangutan from a neighboring island. As Project Manager, Lone Droscher Nielsen joins the search for Mogok, they discover that Oyoy also is missing. Has a dark cloud been cast over Orangutan Island?

  • Lessons Learned, Lessons Lost
The community now numbers 34 after an unexpected loss and the rainy season continues relentlessly. The inexperienced orangutans are still trying to figure things out - some learn new survival skills while others forget crucial lessons already learned. Unexpectedly, Hamlet becomes a role model as the group learns to imitate his effective method of foraging for food in the flood waters. Meanwhile, Chen Chen keeps out of Hamlet's sight on the platform, hanging out with his long-time friend Donald. But when Donald ventures out to look for food, the darkness and rising flood waters leave him scared and disoriented. Will Chen Chen realize Donald is missing and go searching for him? Cha Cha ignores vital lessons she's learned and lets her curiosity lead her into a dangerous playdate with a snake. Then meet Jordan, a bit of a social outcast whose fond memories of being bottlefed could turn out to be deadly.

  • Break Out
The older, more powerful males from the island Hamlet previously inhabited have figured out the electric fence bordering Orangutan Island is not working and they are looking for some mischief. How will the young community defend themselves? Even though Bandit Boys Mogok and Milo stand up to the escapees when they attempt to hoard food, but in the end, it is ultimately Daisy who fearlessly protects the community. Also, Chen Chen becomes anxious and asserts his dominance by brutally attacking Cha Cha. Daisy rescues her best friend but Cha Cha flees deep into the forest and even after the escapees are captured, Cha Cha is still nowhere to be found. Has Chen Chen's beating caused her to isolate herself from the community?

  • Growing Pains
Project Manager Lone Droscher Nielsen embarks on her first trip back to the island since the tragic death of Oyoy. It's time to give the orangs their six-month health checkups, but as the rambunctious orphans line up for their physicals, the needy Cha Cha is nowhere to be found. Normally, she would have been the first to greet Lone. And another young female's devastating past comes back to haunt her when Lone finds Bonita alone and crying after a run-in with one of the bullying Bandit Boys. Meanwhile, dominant males Hamlet and Chen Chen face off over a boatload of forbidden fruit. Will hunger win out over their pride? Can Bonita find the comfort she desperately needs? And where is Cha Cha? Is she finally becoming truly independent or will she share the fate of her close friend Oyoy?

However, when the initial test results come back, the staff discovers that a mysterious illness has taken hold of Donald. The clinic is now in a race to find out whether this sickness is contagious. Does Donald have any chance of recovering? Unaware of his best buddy's illness, Chen Chen sets off to find a new playmate.
