Wrapping Greenland Covering the World's glaciers in reflective geotextile blankets may sound like an extreme way to stop the global melt, but it's a scheme that's being taken very seriously. Raining Forest Trees are great "carbon absorbers" and this episode tests an ambitious program to replenish the World's forests by planting saplings via a massive helicopter launch system. Brighter World Clouds are great at reflecting sunlight. So could there be a way in which to make these clouds brighter in order to reflect the Sun's heat and thus lower the Earth's temperature? Professors Latham and Salter propose to do just that. Infinite Winds A revolutionary new design for wind turbines is generating unprecedented excitement in the climate change world. The concept behind this new design exploits the fact that the higher you go - the stronger the winds. Hungry Ocean By using experimental wave powered pumps to bring more of this life giving water to the surface, it may be possible to restore and enhance phytoplankton production to remove even more CO2 from our atmosphere. Space Sunshield We know that blocking sunlight can counter global warming, so consider the notion of shading the planet with mirrors. Orbital Power Plant This episode breaks boundaries by testing the first ever state-of-the-art solar cells in near Space - creating five times more electricity than conventional solar panels. Fixing Carbon A machine or filtering system which extracts carbon dioxide from the air and stores it underground could be the holy grail of climate science.
