The aspiring fashion designers try to create a punk look for rocker Sarah Hudson, which causes squabbling among the competitors. The designers are challenged to create a wedding dress. The designers are tasked to create swimsuits that double as party attire. The wearability of the designs is tested at a fashion-industry soiree. The six remaining designers work as a team to create an entire collection inspired by the year 2055. The catch: They must recycle vintage clothing for their looks. The five remaining contestants try to design a new uniform for U.S. Postal Service mail carriers. The four remaining designers must create a gown for entertainment reporter Nancy O'Dell, who wears the winner's dress to the Grammys. A collection of outtakes and memorable moments from previous episodes features new interviews with the contestants and judges. Included: contestants describe how the series has impacted their lives and careers. In the first-season finale, the remaining three contestants present their lines in a runway showcase during New York Fashion Week. The winner receives $100,000.
