Saving Grace EpisodesSeason 1

  • Pilot
Grace Hanadarko is a tormented, fast-living Oklahoma City police detective whose philosophy to life is white-heat living. After seeing tremendous tragedy in her life, both professionally and personally, Grace lives life hard and fast. And she never slows down, even in the midst of a race-against-the-clock search for a young girl who has been abducted. It all catches up with Grace one night when, as she's driving too fast after too many drinks, she hits a man who is walking along the road. In an uncharacteristic moment, Grace asks for help, and she gets it in the form an unconventional angel named Earl, who tells her that she is in trouble and running out of chances, but he wants to help lead her back to the right path. The journey, for both of them, will not be an easy one.

  • Bring It On, Earl
The detectives investigate the murder of an oilman who may have been the victim of anti-oil activists, or he may have been murdered by someone a little closer to home. Lt. Yukon's brother, who is constantly in trouble, is brought in as an informant on the case, dredging up old wounds. Meanwhile, after continued visits from Earl, Grace ties to prove her strength by challenging him to a wrestling match. Her relationship with Ham becomes strained after he finds out about her past relationship with Butch. Ham is also being forced to spend the night elsewhere after his wife begins to suspect his affair with Grace.

  • Bless Me, Father, For I Have Sinned
When the manager of a sleazy motel is murdered, the investigation points towards a maid who claims that the victim was trying to rape her. But something in her story doesn't wash. She goes to her local priest and invokes the right of sanctuary, putting the police department in a difficult political position during the new lieutenant's first week on the job. The religious aspect of the case also causes difficulties between Grace and her brother Johnny when Grace repeatedly shows disrespect for the Catholic Church. Earl, meanwhile, continues to be a presence in Grace's life, one she is actually beginning to accept to a small degree.

  • Keep Your Damn Wings Off My Nephew
Wade, a devoutly Christian teenager and witness to a murder, is being threatened with violence in the days leading up to the trial at which he's supposed to testify. As the intimidating tactics escalate, Wade's father is concerned Grace and the police will not be able to protect him. To keep Wade safe, Grace decides to let him stay at her place until the trial. Meanwhile, Grace is unnerved when she has a vision of her young nephew Clay talking to death-row inmate Leon on the street. She lashes out at Earl, knowing that he has something to do with the vision. Earl responds by telling Grace he wants her to work with Leon on something, but he doesn't reveal what exactly.

  • Would You Want Me To Tell You?
The squad is called on to investigate the disappearance of Alvin Green's prize bull statue. The investigation turns up three prime suspects: a disgruntled ex-wife, the artist angry over how Green is using the statue and an employee injured when the statue was being installed. Meanwhile, Grace's "fun, crazy" Aunt Cathy arrives in town for a celebration honoring Grace's father, who is considered a hero for rescuing people after the Oklahoma City bombing. Her arrival, however, stirs up old wounds among the family members. But Earl hopes to help Grace set things right.

  • And You Wonder Why I Lie
A young woman in a nurse's uniform is found dead with a newspaper from eight days ago stuffed into her mouth. It turns out she was a reporter working on a story about call girls who wear costumes for their clients. But that's only the tip of the iceberg for what Grace will discover in the case. Meanwhile, Earl starts calling Grace out about her lying. It even arises as an issue that could tear apart Grace's friendship with Rhetta.

  • Yeehaw, Geepaw
The body of a Native American veteran, just home from the war in Iraq, is found buried face down in a shallow grave in the woods. Such a burial is intended to condemn the soul of the victim, according to Native American belief. Grace seeks advice on the case from her Native American grandfather, Geepaw, and is shocked to learn he is suffering from Alzheimer's Disease and in need of constant supervision.

  • Everything's Got A Shelf Life
The squad's effort to hunt down a killer results in the death of a well-regarded policeman, a tragic turn-of-events that causes Grace and her colleagues to confront their own mortality issues. Meanwhile, death-row inmate Leon, granted time with his son, mulls over the boy's possible adoption by the mother's new boyfriend.

  • A Language Of Angels
The squad investigates the murder of a young woman who was tortured by her killer. Elements of the crime cuts on the woman's body, a word scrawled in blood on the door, the victim's activities just before being abducted all remind Grace of a crime that happened 11 years ago, a crime that hits eerily close to home for her. Meanwhile, Rhetta hypothesizes that the items Earl leaves behind after his angelic visits to Grace might have some sort of hidden meaning. She begins to investigate what that meaning might be, even going to death-row inmate Leon Cooley to see if Earl has left any items for him. Rhetta is then shocked by what she discovers as she begins putting things together.

  • It's Better When I Can See You
After a deadly school bus accident in which several children are killed, the team's investigation turns up information about a recall on the bus' rear axle. Just as Grace goes to the bus barn to question the owners, tornadoes rip through Oklahoma City, trapping both Grace and her prime suspect together in a collapsed building. Meanwhile, death row inmate Leon Cooley makes a major turn in his religious journey.

  • This Is Way Too Normal For You
Grace's investigation of a deadly drive-in robbery swirls around a man with Down syndrome and a home for the mentally challenged. Elsewhere, a romance blooms between Grace and the atheistic son of her voyeuristic neighbor.

  • Is There A Scarlet Letter On My Breast?
A murder trial results in the arrival of a big-gun Los Angeles defense attorney, whose work may bring to light the team's potentially sloppy investigative work, not to mention the muck of their personal lives - including Grace's lusty dark side. Meanwhile, Ham considers disclosing to Grace his heretofore hushed feelings for her; and Grace is slated to attend her nephew's dawning confirmation.

  • Taco, Tulips, Duck And Spices
Burning questions are raised when a charred vehicle is discovered. Found inside the car: photos of Grace's sister, Paige, which compel Grace to snoop into her sibling's life. Meanwhile, physical clues left by Earl could reveal a shocking truth from Grace's past.
