  • Kate Gosselin/Kendra Wilkinson
Reality TV mom Kate Gosselin is living with her eight children in rural Pennsylvania. As a single mother raising twin girls Cara and Mady (12) and eight-year-old sextuplets Alexis, Hannah, Aaden, Collin, Leah and Joel, Kate lives by a rigid set of home rules. She cooks, cleans and shops, all while working to support her family. Kendra Wilkinson, perhaps best known as a Playboy Magazine cover girl and Hugh Hefner's former girlfriend, resides in Los Angeles with former-NFL husband Hank and their four-year-old son, Hank IV, aka "Little Hank." Kendra and Hank have a very relaxed parenting style in which they allow "Little Hank" the freedom to learn and grow without any harsh guidelines. Hank is a supportive husband who pampers his wife by cooking for her, helping out around the house and planning "girls' nights out" for Kendra and friends. The family also has a full-time housekeeper/nanny, Rosa, who runs the household so that Kendra can relax during the day and enjoy her free time. When Kate touches down in Los Angeles, she tries to get used to relaxing - an entirely new concept to this working mom of eight. Meanwhile Kendra struggles, plunging head-first into the chaos of caring for eight kids. It's a comic turn of events as Kendra tries to put all the kids to bed while Kate is treated to a girls' night out. As the week progresses, Kendra continues to juggle all of her new responsibilities while Kate relishes her "me" time, far away from household chores and obligations.

  • Robin Leach/Eric Roberts
Grammy Award-winning rapper Coolio, his girlfriend, Mimi, and her three children - Majaniek (14), Javante (10) and Tariq (5) - live in a suburban community in Las Vegas. When he's not touring or hanging out with friends, Coolio spends the majority of his time sleeping or relaxing at home, while Mimi works as a bartender and an exotic dancer, in addition to taking care of their home and raising her three children. Mark McGrath, who is perhaps best known as the front man of the 90s rock band Sugar Ray, and his wife, Carin, are parents to two-year-old twins Lydon and Hartley. When self-sufficient Mimi arrives in Los Angeles, CA to swap lives with Carin, she is surprised to see a maid, a nanny and Carin's parents - who live with them full time. Mimi is flabbergasted when she sees how the twins have complete control over the household. She also zeroes in on Mark's "helicopter parenting" and thinks that his hovering over everyone's interaction with the twins is a problem. It's a far cry from the standoffish behavior Coolio displays when Carin arrives: Sleeping the day away and hanging out with his friends, he spends little time at home with the kids or helping with the household duties. And when it comes time to implement her own set of house rules, Mimi discovers that Coolio is less than quick to accept her terms.

  • Tichina Arnold/Kelly Packard
Alan Thicke is probably best known to television viewers as Dr. Jason Seaver, a role he played on the family sitcom "Growing Pains." He and his wife, Tanya, live on a sprawling ranch in Santa Barbara, CA with Alan's 15-year-old son, Carter, where they enjoy the finer things in life. Tanya loves to throw lavish dinner parties with the help of a large staff that tends to all of the household needs. Gilbert Gottfried lives in New York City with his wife, Dara, and their two children, Lilly (5) and Max (3). When Gilbert isn't doing stand-up comedy or voice over work, he's a notorious penny-pincher who likes to save money by shopping at .99 cent stores. He also walks all around the city, not wanting to waste money on cab, subway or bus fare. Dara is accustomed to Gilbert's frugal ways and believes you don't need to spend a lot of money on those you love just to show you care. Upon arriving in New York City, Tanya realizes that her bedroom in Santa Barbara is as large as Gilbert's entire apartment. When Gilbert gets home with his two children, he welcomes her with his unique style of comedy, continually impersonating and making fun of her husband, Alan. What's more, it's a definite shock for Tanya to experience Gilbert's economical ways: things come to a head when Gilbert treats Tanya to an "anniversary night out" - she's standing in for Dara as the couple celebrate their wedding anniversary - and the evening isn't at all what Tanya might have expected. In Santa Barbara, Dara is treated to a warm welcome by Alan and Carter and can't believe the size of their ranch. She's soon given her first assignment of the swap, to cook a surf & turf dinner for the family. Admitting she's no chef, Dara gives it her best shot, and at the end of a long first day joins Alan in the Jacuzzi for champagne. Stepping into Tanya's shoes again, Dara throws an elegant dinner party for Alan's friends in which she has to oversee all aspects of the dinner - from place cards and menu to d???cor and dishes. During the day, Marissa likes to sleep in and relax while her husband is at work and Princess tends to her son, Jake. With a mission to be closer to God, this devout family left their eight-bedroom home with modern amenities for a farm with no electricity or running water, and only one bathroom. The children are home-schooled and are expected to do daily chores and help with the needs of the farm. When "Big Juicy" arrives at the farm in Michigan, it's quite a shock to see the family has no modern amenities, and Marissa quickly realizes that she will be trading in her glamorous and pampered lifestyle for one full of cooking, cleaning and farm chores, while also tending to the needs of six children. While "Big Juicy" has a big heart and an open mind in regard to the lifestyle of her new family, she is upset when she tells them about her best friend/"manny" - Princess -- and they react with disapproval when they learn Princess is gay, causing tension between Matt and Marissa. In Las Vegas, Angela meets her new family and quickly becomes uncomfortable with Marissa's party girl lifestyle. As a devout Christian, she doesn't drink and feels like a fish out of water when Princess treats her to a night on the town. Angela thinks Marissa is lazy and selfish, and finds Jake bratty and undisciplined, with no rules or boundaries in the home. The biggest issue Angela has with her new family is Princess, and when it's time for rules change, Walter and Princess are both dumbfounded with what Angela has in store for the family.

Marianne believes appearances are very important, and won't even allow her sons to get haircuts because she thinks it makes them look unique. Opening Marianne's household manual, Heidi reads that the Curry kids have impeccable manners, but that idea goes right out the window once she meets the kids and the boys begin roughhousing, yelling and talking back to their father. Heidi soon realizes that Craig needs to take control and establish some discipline. She also learns that the Curry kids don't actually like participating in pageants and that they're often overwhelmed by their many after-school activities. Meanwhile in Washington, Marianne discovers that her new family only eats freshly hunted meat, and she is intimidated by their whole lifestyle when Scott presents her with dead ducks. She also learns that Scott doesn't normally help Heidi with any of the domestic responsibilities around the house, so tensions mount between him and Marianne when he criticizes her dishwashing skills.

Dayna is an advocate of "Radical Unschooling," believes that schools are like prisons and that institutionalizing a child is one of the cruelest things a parent can do. The Martin children live life as if they were on permanent summer vacation, with no chores, mandatory bedtime or responsibilities. When Cindy arrives in Madison, she's surprised by the rundown state of the Martin home. Once inside, she's truly taken back and decides to stay at a local hotel instead of with the family. As Cindy gets to know the Martins, she can't believe that Dayna and Joe allow their children to use electronic devices without restriction, swear without punishment and enjoy the freedom to make all of their own decisions - including Devin's to get his septum pierced at 13. When it comes time for the change of rules, tempers flare between Joe and Cindy when she tries to wake up the children with an air horn. Meanwhile in San Diego, Dayna finds her new family reserved and quiet. When morning comes, she adheres to the rules, waking up Jody and Najia with the hallway fire alarm. Throughout the week she continues to find the home's rigid structure hard to take and feels that Andrade and Cindy are hard on the children. Marie handles all of the household duties, including laundry and cleaning, allowing her children free time with no responsibilities. She is determined to keep the weight off and her children's weight under control by portion control and a semi-strict diet. Her home runs like a well-oiled machine, with Carol outlining all of the children's responsibilities and daily chores on a large dry erase board so the kids stay on track. When Marie arrives in California, she tries to follow Carol's work and fitness schedule, and finds herself spending more time in her office than with the children. She worries that, with Larry and Carol putting so much emphasis on weight and food with their children, they may be sending the wrong message to their girls. Marie expresses her concerns to Larry and talks with him about the need to reprioritize things in their life. When the rules change, the family gets a taste of Italian love when Marie leads the family in cooking an authentic Italian dinner and reminds the LaRosh family of the value in spending quality time together. The Terry home is filled with trophies, plaques and medals that "Little" Robert has won. Sabrina and Robert expect nothing but excellence from their son in everything he does, but most importantly during his dance practice. Robert trains him two hours every evening, wielding harsh criticism and a long stick to keep "Little" Robert in line and on his tap toes. Robert and his son are unsure how things will go, as they don't know what to make of Karina's witchcraft ways. But sparks fly almost immediately; despite following Sabrina's manual, Karina can do no right when it comes to pleasing Robert, who criticizes everything she does. And when it's time for the rules to change, Karina turns the tables on Robert, which produces an interesting and eye-opening breakthrough for him and "Little" Robert. Back in Salem, Sabrina is confused and even a little scared by all of the Pagan objects in the Fireheart home, making her wonder if she's swapping with a family of devil worshipers. But when Sabrina meets her new family and shares her concerns, Arana assures her that this is not the case and sheds some light on the Pagan religion. Soon enough, however, Sabrina is once again frightened when the family bring her to their local Pagan temple for a "welcome ceremony," taking her way out of her comfort zone. When the rules change, Sabrina looks forward to bringing some organization to the home, working with Aran to de-clutter his office. When Kathy and Elizabeth meet their new families, they get along well, but both women definitely see major differences in how their households operate. And when it's time for the rules change, Kathy wants to get Sisqo to loosen up - and takes steps to help Sisqo's daughter further her career dreams - while Elizabeth wants Gerardo and the kids to appreciate Kathy more, especially with all that she does at home.
