Back To Pazsaz Entertainment Network's The Academy Page Black Monday Day 1 ("Black Monday") of the 18-week regimen is when "hell breaks loose," says Dep. Dwight Miley, as a recruit seen drifting off in class discovers. Later, recruits must do push-ups in business suits and recite the department's core values from memory, and a flustered recruit breaks down. Bad move. "There is no crying in this job," barks Sgt. Mark Wilkins, the training director. Tighten Your Bootstraps At the halfway mark of the first week at the training academy, the recruits receive an introduction to defensive tactics. My O'Miley Recruit Class 355 is showing signs of weakness and Dep. Miley decides that class members can't work together. So he cracks down. Hell Is Coming To Breakfast A recruit defies orders and goes to Mexico for a weekend - and gets into a fight with a local gang. Meanwhile, the other recruits are given the privilege of wearing their uniforms for the first time, but that honor is short-lived. Heart Stopping Action Two recruits have a heated dispute at the shooting range, while another recruit is seriously injured during defensive-tactics training and is rushed to the hospital. Where The Rubber Meets The Road In vehicle training, the recruits are taught quick-driving maneuvers, as well as how to deal with skids and high-speed pursuits. Academy Fling Love is in the air at the academy as two recruits are discovered to have had an ongoing romance, while another takes a weekend off from studying to get married. Meanwhile, Dep. Miley visits a former recruit who's battling cancer. Back To Business The Ramrod throws a pop quiz - and no one can answer even one question correctly. So the drill instructors take away all senior privileges and the class must go back to Day 1. Coming Together Class 355 starts to pull together as graduation day approaches. But an instructional boxing match goes awry and one of the recruits is rushed to the hospital with a life-threatening injury. Colors Run Class 355 participates in a traditional run to signify a rite of passage and honor a fallen officer. But for some recruits the pressure mounts as they struggle to qualify at the shooting range. Graduation Day It's graduation day, a poignant experience and, for one recruit who learns he won't be graduating, a heartbreaking one.
