They learn that after only one night together, their mission is to create a piece of art that captures the essence of a fellow competitor. The Shape Of Things To Come It's a trash bash when the artists arrive at an appliance garbage dump and must transform discarded electronics items, such as televisions and toaster ovens, into fine works of art. Sculptor Jon Kessler is the guest judge. Judging A Book By Its Cover Art and literature blend when the artists must create inventive cover art for books. Author and artist Jonathan Santlofer is the guest judge. A Shock To The System Shock waves are the result when the artists are tasked to create provocative and shocking artwork, tapping into themes of personal importance to them. Photographer Andres Serrano is the guest judge. Art That Moves You The contestants motor through New York City in a fleet of cars, then they rev up to create art inspired by the experience of their drive. Painter Richard Phillips is the guest judge. Open To The Public The artists must efficiently work together to craft a sweeping outdoor installation piece in just two days. The large-scale challenge crescendos with a public viewing. Art figure Yvonne Force Villareal is the guest judge. Child's Play The artists reflect on their childhoods and must create artwork by utilizing kid-friendly materials. Painter Will Cotton is the guest judge. Opposites Attract The artists form duos and fashion artwork inspired by polarizing themes and opposing forces, such as order and chaos. Painter Ryan McGinness is the guest judge. Natural Talents The setting changes from the urban edge of New York City to the rural bliss of a nature preserve when the four still-standing contestants fashion nature-based artwork. Michele Oka Doner serves as the guest judge. The Big Show The finalists craft their artwork in their respective homes, after which they display their collections at an art gala. The winner is then announced.
