 Gilligan's Island premiered on CBS on September 26, 1964. The series begins with what should have been a three-hour pleasure tour on the S.S. Minnow, piloted by Skipper Jonas Grumby along with his first mate Gilligan. However, the boat is shipwrecked on an uncharted tropical island following a sudden typhoon. The seven castaways are the Minnow's loud Skipper, the bumbling Gilligan, a millionaire couple named the Howells, sexy movie star Ginger, wholesome midwestern Mary Ann, and a professor/inventor everyone calls the Professor. The group manage to build huts, concoct gadgets and devices to try and get off the island, bicker among themselves, and host a stram of drop-in guests who always promise to send rescuers, but they never do.
