Marriage Is Murder
It's been eleven months since we last saw the Gotti's -- Irv is still trying to get back to the top with a new hit artist but the music industry is going through an unprecedented slump. Meanwhile, Deb is seeing a therapist to help her reevaluate her ideas about what makes a happy marriage. When Irv's parents come over to celebrate their 52nd anniversary, they are still hoping that Irv and Deb can patch things up and go back to the way things were. Irv thinks his and Deb's relationship is great the way it is. Only Deb thinks that the past and the present both don't work and things have to change for her to be happy.
To The Prom-ised Land
Angie, a sophomore in high school, wants to go to the prom with her boyfriend Isiah (who is a senior), but Deb is freaked out about the idea of Angie getting peer pressured into sex, drugs and alcohol. At the same time, Irv's artist Lloyd is releasing his new album called "Sex Education" which gives Irv something to think about since his daughter is getting to "that age." Irv has a birds and the bees talk with Angie where he schools her about "the minds of young men" and then has a man-to-man talk with the boyfriend himself to make sure he knows to treat Angie with respect.
Gotti Hears The Newz
In therapy Deb realizes that she needs to put boundaries on her and Irv's relationship. She decides that she needs Irv to take the kids to his place in the city instead of hanging around her house every weekend, but first she needs to get up the courage to tell him. Meanwhile, Irv discovers a new street rapper from Brooklyn named Newz that he hopes will capture the love of the people. If Newz breaks, it'll be a fresh start for Murder Inc. and a shot in the arm for the failing music industry.
Irv's Weekend Away
It's time to put Deb's "new boundaries" plan into action. She tells Irv that this weekend he has to take the boys to his place in the city while she has a girl's weekend with Angie. But even though the weekend goes well for both sides, in the end Irv settles back into being comfortable at Deb's house and she realizes that it's not going to be that easy to get Irv to change for her.
Options
Irv and Deb butt heads over Angie's future -- Deb thinks Angie should go to college so that Angie doesn't have to rely on a man to support her, while Irv thinks Angie should figure out what her passion is first instead of trying to "find herself" in college. To help her pursue her interest in fashion, Irv brings Angie to the city to meet with his friend Jon Epstien, the President of FILA. After showing her interest in pursuing fashion at FILA, Jon offers Angie an internship at the company. Meanwhile in the studio, Irv gets to work with his latest artist Newz, and when Newz confesses to Irv that if his hip-hop career doesn't happen, he's back to the streets robbing or selling drugs. After meeting with Jon & Newz about college and options, Irv's opinion on college takes a turn.
Live On Gayle King
Deb seems like a confident and capable woman on Gayle King's radio show while Irv and his crew listen to the show at their office. But when Irv tells Deb that one of the single mothers at his office who is struggling to raise her son thought that Deb should realize how good she has it, all the insecurity and feelings of blame that Deb felt when she and Irv broke up come flooding back. Back at Deb's house, Deb's feelings come to a boil when Irv snaps at her for looking at his blackberry; she reminds him that he's a guest in her house, throws his blackberry out the door and kicks him out after it.
Home Alone
When the previous night's fight with Irv has Deb declaring she needs to spend some time alone, Irv finds mixing fatherhood and work at the studio more difficult than he thought.
JJ's Birthday Party
Irv brings the kids home from their weekend without their mom, but all is still not well between him and Deb.
