Fertility
"Everywhere you go nowadays, people are talking about testicles." When he was seven years old, Jon had surgery to correct an undescended testicle. His Aunt Kathy informs Jon that he may not be able to have children because of that early complication. In this heart-warming episode, Jon sets out to discover if he is fertile or not. He visits a urologist, argues with his balls and proves to everyone that he'll be a kick-ass role model for children.
Happiness
Feeling, as Tom Waits said, "like a spent piece of used jet trash", Jon mopes around his disgusting apartment wondering why he is so down. Taking his shrinks' advice, Jon sets out to get happy. He interviews a monk, donates blood and finds meaningful work by becoming a stripper. In this touching episode, Jon learns that his sound man has a very weak stomach, dog farts are deadly and that being happy takes way too much effort.
Problem Drinker
After peeing in a patio flower pot at his friend Kristine's bar, Jon sets out to prove that he is not a problem drinker. He talks to an addictions councilor, runs an obstacle course and goes head to head with a cop in a deeply moving role playing scene in which Jon is a surly drunk and the cop is a cop. It's quite a stretch for both of them. In the end, Jon learns that if you drink to excess, you could wake up to something very, very disturbing.
Fit
When he has the opportunity to audition for a soft core porn movie, Jon sets out to get fit. When he realizes that there is no quick fix, he paints on some abs and humiliates himself at his audition. Wandering naked on King Street, Jon realizes that it's not what you look like on the inside that counts, it's what you look like on the outside that matters most.
Smoking
He has to quit and that's all there is to it. Jon tries everything to get off the smokes - many patches, boxes of gum and hypnotism. Nothing seems to work. Jon interviews a four year old about giving up the soother and blankie and paints a portrait of a naked man with a vase to keep his mind off of tobacco. Then, in a stirring and inspiring turn, Jon conquers his enemy. Maybe.
STD
Jon has a horrible nightmare and thinks he has contracted a sexually transmitted disease. In this touching episode, Jon gets tested for various "wang" ailments, tells his partners about his condition and puts on a play in which he portrays a penis. This thought provoking and poignant episode gives us all something to think about and teaches an important lesson about the perils of live theatre.
Manly Man
Jon isn't one. In this explosive episode, Jon finds out what it really means to be a man when he is seriously assaulted by a ten year old boy. To explore the concept of being a real man, Jon chats with a transsexual, a fire fighter and a boxing coach. Jon learns that being a man isn't about physical strength or simply stuffing your crotch with a rolled up tube sock. In fact, he discovers that being a man isn't about much of anything at all.
Ready For Love
Now that all of his friends have settled down, Jon decides that it's time to find The One. See Jon go on two dates with two real-life, non-inflatable women. Yes, it's a romantic journey of discovery.
Jon Gets Scared
Jon's a chicken when it comes to bats. Haunted by the childhood memory of a frightening encounter with one, Jon learns about the nature of fear and how to confront it. See Jon get violated where it counts by a giant bat! Watch in utter horror as Jon sings a song! Scream with interest as Jon comes eye to beady eye with the object of his terrible phobia.
Jon Gets Political
To honour the memory of his late grandfather, Jon sets out to make a difference in the world. He learns the hard way that getting political is all about wearing a suit, making your hair look like a toupee and talking like a sedated robot. With his fake wife and rented children in tow, Jon takes on city hall and makes a complete ass of himself. Though his heart's in the right place, Jon realizes that he can never have a career in politics because his heart's in the right place.
JONATHAN-A-THON
When his friend Mark is forced to pay for his own ambulance after a bout with alcohol poisoning, Jon sets out to raise money for drunks. So that no booze bag will ever have to pay for an ambulance ride, no matter how drunk they get, Jon begins to canvas the public for support. In a violent confrontation with other fundraisers, Jon learns that the compassion game is absolutely vicious.
Loss And Roger
Jon vows to help his friend Bob who has just been fired from his job as an insurance salesman. First, Jon must learn what it means to lose something. After interviewing Steve, a Mohawk Canadian, about loss of land and culture Jon discovers the important role media can play in getting the attention of the right people. Jon thinks Bob can get the attention of his old bosses the same way greasy celebrities use the media to keep their careers alive. Jon demonstrates by making a sex tape, exposing himself in public and adopting children.
Jon's Rage
To keep the woman he almost loves, Jon decides to deal with his unmanageable rage. His shrink takes Jon through an intensive session to deal with his anger and almost gets through to him for the first time. To channel his rage, Jon forms a heavy metal band with his annoying neighbour. All goes as well as can be expected until, during their debut concert, Jon's fury threatens to rear its hideous head. Will Jon manage to keep the woman he almost loves and find success in the music business? Probably not.
