The Kempeitai hold Frank captive. Meanwhile, a curious man provides Juliana with a clue about the films; and an unlucky turn of events shock Obergruppenfuhrer Smith. A dangerous bounty hunter arrives in Canon City, forcing Joe and Juliana to move quickly. Meanwhile, Tagomi plots with Wegener about secrets from the Reich; and Frank devises his vengeance plan against the Japanese. Joe struggles with his sense of duty and his emerging feelings for Juliana. Meanwhile, Ed attempts to persuade Frank not to make an irreversible decision; a problematic witness halts Smith's investigation; and Tagomi's plan doesn't go as expected. Juliana finds new clues regarding the films when she returns home. Meanwhile, Joe endures a difficult debriefing; Kido investigates what happened at the Crown Prince's speech; and Tagomi and Wegener make a desperate attempt to finish their mission. On VA Day, Joe goes to Smith's house, where Smith's old pal behaves unexpectedly. Meanwhile, Juliana begins working for Tagomi as she keeps looking for answers. Juliana uncovers something shocking about her sister's death. Meanwhile, Frank makes a big decision about his future after contemplating recent events; and Tagomi learns more about Juliana's past. Juliana and Frank plot to leave the Pacific States, but Joe puts them in jeopardy when he tries to obtain a new film. Meanwhile, a shocking family discovery tests Smith's loyalty. Frank must risk his life to help Joe. Meanwhile, Smith finally learns who was responsible for the assassination attempt; Tagomi is distressed when he discovers the ramifications of his scheming; and Kido's investigation takes a climatic turn. Juliana must make the most difficult decision she's ever faced. Meanwhile, Wegener goes back to Germany to complete his mission; Smith puts himself in jeopardy when he and his assassin go hunting; and Kido is determined to close his investigation.
