Ruby asks David to cover for her and say he is the one who borrowed the car, which he happily does for her, until he reveals the truth during a televised interview. Ruby, not used to how a family works and the Gallagher house rules, is terrified of what their punishment might be and does everything to try and make it right.

We Are Family?
David arranges for a parenting magazine writer to spend the day with him and Ruby in hopes that a story featuring the happy father-daughter duo would draw crowds at his shows. During his interview, Ruby is touched when David recalls the first time he laid eyes on her mom. When she realizes he made the story up, Ruby teaches her dad a lesson about trust and love by introducing her friends to the writer as David's "other" kids. Although he's embarrassed, David apologizes and makes amends with Ruby. Meanwhile, Jordan and Ben conduct a covert DNA test on Ruby and David, but fearing he'd miss having her around if she wasn't David's daughter, Jordan dumps the kit in the trash. For some serious father-daughter bonding between David and Ruby.
We Aren't The Champions
Ruby joins a soccer team, and when David decides he's not the perfect fit as far as coaching the team is concerned, Uncle Patrick steps in to take the coaching reigns. Unfortunately, Patrick's excitement over finally having a kid in his house interested in sports turns sour when the team loses its first game. Meanwhile, David teaches Jordan that, as far as a music career is concerned, one must overcome regret and humiliation to find true passion. Having fun and not worrying about winning every game is Ruby's mantra.
50 Ways To Heave Your Mother
David and Patrick's mother, Shirley, visits from Pittsburgh. Ruby and Shirley are off to a rocky start when Shirley insists Ruby call her Mrs. Gallagher instead of Grandma. Ruby tries wholeheartedly to win her Grandma's affections; nonetheless Shirley proceeds to make her feel as if she doesn't belong in the family.
