Premiere, Parts 1 and 2
Kevin Hunter is a parolee who, after five years in a Federal penitentiary, is trying to reconnect with his wife and son while fighting the lifestyle that led to his imprisonment. James Liberti is a parole officer who, while attempting to control the lives of parolees, must deal with his own personal addiction that could very easily spin his own life out of control.
Random Act
After five years in prison, Kevin Hunter is having a hard time adjusting to life on the outside. The reality of parole seems to intrude at every turn. He is determined to get money he is owed from his brother, Peter, who is relentlessly trying to pull him into new deals. When Kevin realizes that between Rachel and Peter, three-million dollars is gone, he decides to take over the Royal Scam Nightclub in order to salvage the only asset he has left-now all he has to do is convince James Liberti. Much to Kevin's amazement James approves the job, but what Kevin doesn't know is that the DEA has set up surveillance on the club. They're waiting for Kevin to slip up.
Above Suspicion
Liberti is on stakeout-and takes a moment to place a bet - $5000 on Vargas - only to lose it all when Vargas goes down in the fifth round. He's keeping an eye on Achmed Rashid-with only five days left on parole, he's become a sudden priority after the events of 09/11 because he's Arab and has the skill to bring people into the country with false passports. James is ordered by Valentine not to cross the line in going after him. As Kevin is searching for Sean's baseball glove in the closet, he discovers a strip of condoms tucked away and is suddenly jealous of anyone Rachel may have slept with while he was away. His mood darkens and he takes it out on Rachel. In the heat of their argument, Kevin accidentally breaks one of her pottery pieces. Liberti arrives to do a home visit. The tension in the room is unmistakable.
Respect
Rachel is enjoying a night at the Royal Scam Nightclub until customer Michael Kendry's advances go a little too far. When Kevin tries to throw the guy out, he ends up with a fat lip and, because he's on parole, no permissible means of retaliation other than verbal.
Lesser Evils
James commits insurance fraud in order to pay down his gambling debt. Despite growing suspicions that he's being set up, Kevin is forced to vouch for his brother on the drug deal with Rajish. Dee faces a difficult decision when confronted with the truth about Atwood and Dugan.
The Truth Hurts... Bad
Kevin is given permission to visit his parents; James deals with an uncooperative parolee; Dee sees a therapist.
Good Deeds
Kevin finds a bug in his office at the club. Kevin and James struggle with the idea of their sons being friends. James' bookie calls in his debt. James helps an offender start a new life.
Instant Karma
Kevin is schmoozing with Councilman McGuire and his entourage when James enters the packed club. James returns his books to him - they won't lock Kevin up, yet. Kevin is aware the conversation is being recorded??? he didn't have the bug in the office removed.
Rabid Dawg
James is assigned gansta rapper Last Emcee. Valentine has instructed him to add a special condition to his parole to prohibit him from recording music that promotes violence and criminal activity. Recently signed to Rabid Dawg Records, Emcee argues against Liberti censoring his music and refuses to sign the waiver agreeing to the new condition of his parole.
No Excuses
Kevin seeks the help of his old friend Fariz Hammoud "Freddy Herbert" to get a terrified Goldie out of the Calcutta prison and the load home. Freddy thinks Indian Customs busted the shipment of Royal Nepalese temple balls.
Betrayal
When Goldie's plane lands in the US, Freddy meets him at the airstrip. Freddy confides in him that he's worried about Kevin ending up in prison again. He proposes that in order to protect him, perhaps Kevin should stay completely out of the picture, suggesting Goldie take the deal home.
Reversal Of Fortune
Kevin and Peter discover that somebody has stolen part of their load but Kevin isn't ready to give up. James is facing possible suspension and is informed his $25,000 marker is being called in. This could get messy.
