You Know What You Did
Despite last season's heartache on The Hills, it looks as though Lauren's ready for a fresh start. After being betrayed by her friends and losing Heidi to Spencer, things have finally started looking up for Lauren now that Audrina's stepped in as her new roommate. Plus, Teen Vogue has undergone a face-lift, with an all-new setup in the intern room and Whitney moving up to become Lauren's new boss. But on Lauren's first day back at work, Whitney learns of the rumors being spread on the Internet about a sex tape featuring Lauren and Jason, and word has gotten back to Lauren's parents in Laguna Beach. Although there's no clear evidence as to who is circulating the story, Whitney casually asks when Lauren last heard from Heidi. Could she be the culprit? At that very same moment, Heidi is sitting at home as Spencer rolls a giant aquarium into their new apartment. While Heidi makes a guest list for their housewarming party, Spencer rattles off a laundry list of friends he's inviting to the big shindig. Meanwhile, Heidi only has a short list that includes Lauren, Audrina and Whitney. At Epic Records, Audrina gets a surprise visit from Heidi. Although they haven't spoken in a long time, Heidi hands Audrina two party invitations - one for her and one for Lauren. Audrina accepts the invites but quickly brushes Heidi off, running away to share the news with an intern. Audrina vents about how Heidi hasn't called Lauren once since moving out, even amidst all the rumors about a sex tape with Jason. She also reveals that she heard that Heidi and Spencer have been talking trash about Lauren all over L.A., saying she wouldn't be able to get into any of the hot clubs without Heidi by her side. While out to lunch with Whitney, Lauren's surprised to learn that Heidi wants her to make an appearance at the housewarming party. When Whitney says she's opting to avoid the awkward situation, Lauren suggests a girls' night at hotspot Les Deux instead. After all, every time Lauren hits the club she manages to find some man candy. And she isn't disappointed this time around, as it doesn't take long for Lauren to rope in some romance. When she finds a British boy, the scenario seems perfect - especially since he's headed out of town the next morning! Meanwhile, Heidi and Spencer are playing host and hostess at their new apartment when, lo and behold, Jenn Bunney arrives at the party. Jenn says she's focusing on her real friendships, and Heidi's glad that Jenn is becoming a part of her fresh start. But, looking back at the door, Heidi can't help but wish Lauren had come to celebrate. The next day, Heidi and Spencer wonder if Lauren will show up to their mutual friend Frankie's birthday bash at Les Deux. Meanwhile, over at Lauren and Audrina's apartment, the new roomies are preparing for another night out at the very same club. As the two get ready to go out, Audrina tells Lauren that she ran into Brody, who started to lay into her about missing out on Heidi and Spencer's housewarming party. Lauren shrugs it off, saying she'd rather look toward the future than into the past. Here's to another fun night at Les Deux! Little does Lauren know what the night has in store for her, though... It's all fun and games for Lauren at the club until Heidi and Spencer arrive for Frankie's party. Heidi immediately strolls over to Lauren and hands her a letter, then proceeds to sit at the same table. When Lauren leaves to go to the bathroom, Audrina lands in an awkward conversation with Heidi, who claims ignorance as to why Lauren's so upset with her. Audrina tells her the two should talk, and then goes off to find Lauren. Behind closed doors, Lauren and Audrina read the note, in which Heidi says she misses Lauren and wants to catch up. This sends Lauren into a fit of anger, upset that Heidi won't admit to what she did. On the way out of the club, Spencer tells Heidi to roll up on Lauren to try to find out what the problem is. Cue a yelling match outside of the club, where Lauren and Audrina tell Heidi she's become a different person. When Lauren affirms that the two are no longer friends, Heidi repeatedly denies any wrongdoing. But Lauren is adamant that her former BFF is the one that's spreading rumors about her. Grabbing lunch the next day, Heidi tells Elodie that she saw Lauren and claims she had no clue that anything was wrong. Despite their big blowout, Heidi says she still cares about and misses Lauren. Meanwhile, at Teen Vogue, Lauren's singing a different tune to Whitney. Although Lauren's upset that Heidi won't take any responsibility for what happened between them, she's sad that she lost her as a friend. Whitney says she's better off, and Lauren admits that she has been so far.
Big Girls Don't Cry
After all that drama outside of Les Deux during the last episode of The Hills, it looks like Heidi and Lauren's friendship is officially dunzo. While out to lunch with Spencer, Heidi calls the screaming match with Lauren and Audrina one of the craziest experiences she's ever had. Back at the Hillside Villas, Audrina and Lauren catch up while Audrina primps for a big date with her on-again, off-again man, Justin. Although the two stopped seeing each other after Justin abandoned her in Vegas, Audrina's ready to give her ex a second chance. And, if the night goes awry, Audrina's ready to party it out with Lauren at L.A. hotspot 40 Deuce after dinner. When Heidi returns home to her new apartment, she's welcomed by a huge piece of graffiti plastered across the living room wall. Although she and Spencer had talked about decorating the place with artwork, the gold spray paint and money signs surrounding the word "Hollywood" are a little more than Heidi had bargained for. Spencer says the paint job is a gift and promises he has some more surprises up his sleeve, including a romantic getaway to Santa Barbara. Meanwhile, Audrina and Justin are hitting it off during their date. Justin admits to having changed, and Audrina seems to think he's lost some of his bad boy qualities since the last time they saw each other. But when she brings Justin home to see the new apartment, he makes a less than perfect impression on Lo and Lauren. Then, on the way out, Audrina tells Lauren that they're heading to 40 Deuce without her. The next morning, Audrina tells Lauren that she's decided that she really likes Justin and wants to start over and see how things go. When Audrina casually suggests that Justin might have a cute friend for Lauren, her roomie quickly reminds her that the two have very different tastes in guys - although they both like bad boys! While driving around, Spencer drops a bomb on Brody - he's planning on popping the question when he takes Heidi to Santa Barbara! Brody thinks his homie should hold off for awhile since Spencer and Heidi have only been dating for a year and they're too young to get married. But the next thing you know, Spencer and Brody hit a jewelry store, where Spencer selects an 18-carat white gold ring with a huge rock. Handing over his credit card, Spencer rips up the receipt and says the ring isn't going to be returned. Guess he's serious about this! While Heidi and Spencer are en route to Santa Barbara for their little getaway, Lauren takes a trip of her own to Laguna Beach to spend some much needed quality time with her mom. When her mom asks why she's visiting, Lauren says she needed to get away from L.A. for a couple of days. It can get pretty overwhelming there, especially with everything that's been going on between Lauren and Heidi. Bringing up the rumors of the sex tape, her mom tries to remind Lauren that L.A. is a totally different place from the rest of the world. On the beach, Spencer tells Heidi that she's the most amazing person he's ever met and he's always happy when he wakes up next to her. Saying he wants to spend the rest of his life with her, he brings out the ring, which she puts on her finger in tears. They're officially engaged!
Truth And Time Tells All
Now that she's decided to give Justin a second chance, Audrina wants Lauren to get to know her new boy better. Audrina invites Lauren to meet her and Justin for drinks and, despite being apprehensive about their relationship, Lauren agrees. At Bolthouse, Elodie spies the huge rock residing on Heidi's ring finger. As Elodie squeals in delight and starts asking questions, Heidi assures her that she's not preggers and the engagement is for real. Although Heidi's nowhere near ready to think about wedding plans yet, she's reveling in the idea of having a long engagement to her "soul mate." Taking a stroll through Hollywood, Brody and Spencer drop into a few shops. When Brody asks about Santa Barbara, Spencer admits that he never thought he?d be engaged at 23. Spencer reveals that he used to think marriage was just for guys who couldn't get lucky, but now he says that Heidi's made him realize that he can spend his whole life with one girl and be happy. When Brody says he wants to plan the bachelor party for his bud's last night as a single man, Spencer says he wants to throw a party for Brody since he's the single stud of the pair. Over at Teen Vogue, Lauren tells Whitney that she's getting ready to third-wheel it with Audrina and Justin. Lauren admits she doesn't understand what Audrina sees in Justin, but she's ready to give him another chance. At Heidi and Spencer's apartment, Spencer provides his fiance with yet another surprise - this time in the form of an old-school arcade game in the living room. But while Spencer is psyched about expanding his gaming collection, Heidi wants to do some serious furniture shopping. Later on, Lauren lands on her long-awaited date with Audrina and Justin, who shows up looking casual in a hoody and claiming he's sick. When Lauren asks Justin to be careful with Audrina on his motorcycle, Justin only belches in response. Audrina tries to laugh it off but Lauren is less than impressed. In front of Justin, Audrina asks Lauren if he's a good guy. Lauren shrugs off the question and says it takes more than a few minutes to judge someone. Justin tries pointing the finger at Lauren, saying he has a few questions, so Lauren pushes him to tell the roomies what he thinks of her. Justin jokes that he's really just dating Audrina to get to Lauren, but the joke falls flat on the roommates. After the comment, Lauren's ready to provide her opinion, but Justin says he doesn't care and asks if he and Audrina can leave. At the pool the next morning, Audrina admits that the date with Justin was more awkward than she had expected. Upset that Justin was rude and disrespectful, Audrina sighs, knowing that this bad boy is no gentleman. Although she asks Lauren whether or not she should call him again, she doesn't really want to know the answer. Back at Heidi and Spencer's apartment, Spencer finally agrees to buying the essentials for their new digs. Over some food, Heidi admits to being upset over Spencer's little surprises. Feeling left out, she wishes he'd include her in more decisions. In classic Spencer fashion, he shrugs it off, saying how much he loves the "power." The next time Audrina and Justin meet up, Justin strolls in late. Since the infamous bad date with Lauren, the two haven't talked. Justin tries to blame his rudeness on being sick but Audrina argues that he should have stayed home if he was grumpy. Although Justin doesn't quite see why it's a big deal, Audrina says that Lauren found him rude. She suggests that maybe they should just be friends, so Justin says they have a choice to either "kick rocks" and go their separate ways or "be cool" and hang out. He says he sincerely likes Audrina and that truth and time will tell whether or not they should be together. Falling for his reasoning, Audrina says "cheers" to truth and time. Guess she's giving this guy yet another try! When Spencer arrives home, he's welcomed by a surprise of his own - Heidi's painting over his Hollywood mural. A shocked Spencer can't believe his girl would get rid of such a masterpiece, but Heidi says she wants the two of them to start making decisions together from now on. Staring up at the blank wall, Spencer sarcastically says his girl's done a great paint job. But, although he's fuming, the new Spencer picks up a brush and finishes off her work.
Meet The Parents
As Heidi and Spencer have her engagement rock resized at the jewelers, Heidi suggests that her husband-to-be come home with her to Colorado to meet the family. Although Spencer was planning on spending the weekend in The Hills at a BBQ with his boys, he changes his plans in order to take the trip home with his girl. Time to meet the parents! While out shopping, Spencer breaks the BBQ news to Brody, who is less than thrilled about the change in plans. Brody tells his homeboy that while he understands the situation, he's upset that his friend is flaking on their plans. Meanwhile, Audrina and Justin take time to relax away from the Hollywood scene by soaking up the sun at the beach. Audrina brings up his rough start with Lauren, explaining that her best friend's only looking out for her. While Justin admits that Lauren's just being a good friend, he assures Audrina that she has no need to worry - the two lovebirds will be fine until, as he so eloquently puts it, Audrina pisses him off. While packing for Colorado, Spencer says he's both excited and nervous about meeting the Montag family. When he asks how much her parents know about their relationship, Heidi explains that they know she and Spencer live together and are in a serious relationship. This meet and greet could be the heaviest thing Spencer's ever done. Elsewhere in The Hills, Lauren invites Lo and Audrina to Brody's beach BBQ. Although Lo expresses her surprise that Lauren and Brody are still friends, Lauren brushes it off, saying she always stays pals with her old boyfriends. Audrina says she wants to bring Justin along, and the girls agree that her ex has become a mystery man, always weaving in and out of the scene. When Spencer and Heidi arrive in Crested Butte, Colorado, the couple is greeted by her extremely excited family. Meanwhile, the rest of The Hills crew arrives at the beach house for Brody's BBQ. When Frankie asks Brody where Spencer is, the two joke that he's riding horseback through the mountains of Colorado. While out shopping in Colorado, Heidi's father assesses the Spencer situation. Heidi tries to convince him that Spencer's right for her, assuring him they're going to take things slow. Not so convinced, Heidi's dad says he wants to have a one-on-one with Spencer. At dinner, Heidi's father pulls Spencer aside to talk. Spencer admits he never thought he'd want to get married so early in life but says he knows that he wants to spend every second of his time with Heidi. But Heidi's dad says he's seen this scene play out before - in the past, Heidi's ditched her friends for her boyfriends and, after putting all her eggs in one basket, has wound up alone when the relationship ended. Beachside, Audrina complains that Justin's been flirting with another girl all day. Lauren tells her that Justin should be jumping at the chance to date Audrina. Their conversation quickly flips when Brody strolls in wearing a cast - Lauren tackled him earlier during a game of football and busted his arm! When he busts out an X-ray of the damage, Lauren and Audrina erupt in laughter. Meanwhile, Heidi tells her mom that she wants to marry Spencer and can't imagine her life without him. But her mom expresses her concern that Heidi has picked Spencer over her friends - mainly Lauren. She doesn't understand why the two best friends have split, but Heidi says she and Lauren will never be friends again. While sitting by a bonfire at the BBQ, Brody tells Lauren that he is hurt that she started cracking up at his cast. Lauren explains why she thinks it's funny to see Brody in an arm cast and kisses the cast to make up. Then Lauren asks Brody if he and Spencer are OK. Although Brody says things are fine, Lauren points out that the two best friends are never together anymore. At dinner with the Montag family, Heidi's mom expresses her surprise at Spencer's level of commitment. Spencer says he'd marry their daughter right away, but Heidi's mom thinks the two need to go through some rough times together before taking the big plunge. When Heidi leaves the table, her mom asks Spencer about the Lauren situation. Spencer says Lauren's been selfish, but Heidi's mom says a best friend is an important part of anyone's life. When Heidi sits back down, she immediately switches the subject. Back at the BBQ, Lauren tells Audrina that she's lucky to have her as a friend. Audrina causes Lauren to tear up when she says that Heidi let a guy go to her head and ruin a good friendship. To try to stop Lauren from crying, Audrina points out all the close friends Lauren still has. Still, Lauren can't help but feel sad over losing Heidi. When Lauren gets up to grab some drinks, she finds Audrina's motorcycle helmet on the couch inside. She brings it over to Audrina, who realizes that Justin has left without saying goodbye. It's Audrina's turn to cry, as she can't seem to take Justin's attitude anymore. Lauren tries cheering her up by reminding her that "homeboy wore combat boots to the beach" and she's better off without him. This lightens the mood, sending the two friends into hysterics.
Rolling With The Enemy
After Justin's disappearing act at Brody's BBQ on the last episode of The Hills, Lauren thought Audrina's days with the bad boy were over. But, as the two share a meal in their apartment, Audrina lets it slip that she's still on the Justin rollercoaster and isn't quite ready to get off. Switching subjects, Audrina expresses her surprise that Spencer and Heidi didn't drop by the BBQ. And, more importantly, she wonders how the couple will react once they've learned Lauren's been spending time with Brody. Although Brody's trying to be cool about the whole situation, Lauren says she thinks that Brody and Spencer are drifting apart. Oh, how the tables have turned! That same moment at Bolthouse, Brent asks Heidi if Lauren and Brody are dating again, and Heidi's surprised to hear that the two were seen together - especially since she thought they hated each other. Back at home, Heidi shares the news with Spencer about Brody and Lauren hanging out. Although he says the news is like "hell freezing over," he suggests that the two need each other. While out getting a caffeine fix, Audrina gossips about the weekend with her Epic Records buddy, Chiara. When Audrina admits to crying over Justin, Chiara's surprised Audrina shed tears over a guy. Although Audrina knows she should be calling it quits with Justin, she can't seem to pry herself away from him. Out at Les Deux, Brody two-steps his way over to Lauren's table and suggests they go to the Roosevelt pool together. Lauren's totally up for the task - after all, she was planning on going there anyway. Then Lauren says she wants to crash at Brody's condo after leaving the club. Wait, what's going on here?! At Teen Vogue the next morning, Whitney and Lauren sort through clothing while Lauren recaps her night at Les Deux - glossing over the fact that she spent the night at Brody's. When Lauren reveals that Spencer isn't returning any of Brody's phone calls, Whitney says Spencer's acting immature but it's probably just a momentary tiff. Later on, as Audrina gets ready for dinner with Justin, Lauren and Lo ask for the latest details and Audrina confesses that her bad boy wants to take things slow. When Lo asks how long they've been dating (aside from the two years they've been on-again, off-again), Audrina says it's been about four months. As Justin lays on his horn downstairs, Lo argues that he should probably be her boyfriend by now. At dinner, despite claiming he has Audrina all figured out, Justin says he wants to "be cool" and not rush into anything. When Audrina brings up her conversation with Lauren and Lo, he says he doesn't care about what they think and that he's not into labels when it comes to relationships. Driving through the city, Brody gets Spencer on the phone. When Brody asks why his homeboy hasn't returned his calls, Spencer says he has nothing to say to him. Frustrated with Brody's new alliance to Lauren, Spencer calls his old friend disloyal and says he doesn't want any excuses - if Brody's hanging with an enemy, he's going to become an enemy. Brody tells his buddy that he loves him but feels like he's landed square in the middle of a high school fight. With a click of the phone, Spencer hangs up on Brody and the two are BFF no more. At Roosevelt pool, Audrina tells Lauren and Lo that Justin doesn't want to label their relationship. Fearing that she's being overly sensitive, Audrina says she's ready to play it cool for awhile. Lauren, on the other hand, may be looking to spice things up. When Brody arrives he teasingly refers to her as his "lady" and the pair gets called out for having a "sleepover" at Brody's the other night. Are these exes back to being an item? While The Hills gang may be laughing over Brody spending more time with Lauren, Brody's friend Frankie tells Lauren that Spencer has beef with her being friends with Brody again. Lauren feels badly about the situation, especially when she learns that Spencer "broke up" with Brody. Over at Heidi and Spencer's apartment, Spencer sits on the sofa as his fianc?e folds the laundry. Heidi says she's having breakfast with Jen Bunney in the hopes of rekindling their friendship. Spencer asks if Jen's been hanging out with Lauren but Heidi says they haven't talked since their fight. At breakfast, Heidi tells Jen that Brody and Spencer are on the outs. Jen is shocked by the breakup but is even more taken aback when Heidi says that Brody's been the source of all the nasty rumors circulating about Lauren. When Jen brings up Heidi's relationship with Lauren, Heidi says she doesn't care if the two regain their friendship, but Jen thinks Heidi's still hoping for reconciliation.
Second Chances
He's baaack! Just when you thought Jason was out of Lauren's life forever, Lauren drops a bombshell on Whitney - her ex-bf called. It seems like, after finishing his stint in rehab, Jason is interested in catching up with Lauren. The two haven't talked since the breakup, and Lauren's starting to think Jason has some sort of Spidey-sense since he always seems to appear when things are finally coming together in her life. At the gym, Lauren and Audrina work out with their studly trainer, Jarett. As The Hills girls cool down, Jarett asks them if they want to go out on a double date with him and their mutual friend Derek. They agree to meet at their favorite restaurant, Lola's. After their workout, Lauren reveals that Jason called during their sweat session. But, while Lauren is talking to her ex, Audrina refuses to answer her boy Justin's calls. She says it's because she's just looking to have fun, and she thinks the two roomies should focus on new boys. Over at Bolthouse, Elodie tells Heidi that there's a new job opening for an events director that she hopes to get. Complete with its own office and an assistant, it's her dream job. In fact, Elodie can almost taste the promotion, feeling she deserves it after two years of hard work. But Heidi has also set her sights on the position - although she's only been at the company for a year, she thinks it might be time to take a step up. When Heidi gets home, she tells Spencer about the job opening. Although Elodie is interested, Spencer says Heidi is perfect for the job and should be willing to do whatever it takes to get it. Out on the town, Lauren and Audrina meet Derek and Jarett for their double date. The girls have been looking forward to the night, but when Derek proudly tells Lauren that he only paid 40 cents for his T-shirt at a thrift store, Lauren is quickly turned off. Then things go from bad to worse when the group makes its way to Les Deux. While there, Derek tells Lauren that he likes her more than any other girl he's ever met and already can't stop thinking about her. But all in a "non-psychotic" kind of way, of course. Yikes! During a bathroom break, Lauren tells Audrina that she's never wanted to stab herself in the eye more than during this date. At Teen Vogue the next morning, Lauren fills Whitney in on her disastrous date. While mulling over Derek's shortcomings, Lauren realizes that, since she broke up with Jason, none of her relationships seem to go any further than the first date. She's worried she is cursed, but Whitney says she just has standards. At Bolthouse, Heidi tells her boss, Brent, that she's interested in the new position. Although she thinks she's up to the task, Brent says it's a big step up for her, maybe too big. But, despite the fact that Elodie is more experienced, he's willing to think it over. While cooking dinner with Audrina and Lo, Lauren gets a call from Jason. While Lauren tells the girls she just wants to be friends, Lo argues that she could never be friends with her bad boy ex. When Audrina asks Lauren how many times she's been in love, Lauren admits that she's only really fallen once - for Jason. Poolside, Lauren listens to a voicemail from dime store Derek and can't help but laugh at the fact that he thinks she would ever go out with him again. After a good giggle, though, she tells Audrina that she's worried her standards are too high. Although she doesn't want a perfect guy, she's baffled by her bad luck when it comes to dating. Meanwhile, Audrina has some news of her own - she finally talked to Justin and he apologized for his bad behavior. Despite his apology, Audrina thinks the two are better off as friends. Lauren points out that Audrina likes the "good Justin," not the "bad Justin," and then adds that Audrina can't just like half of who a person is. Hmm, maybe Lauren should listen to her own advice! Back at Bolthouse, Heidi strolls in and - shocker - she snagged the job right out from under Elodie's nose. Despite being upset over the situation, Elodie swings by Heidi's new office to congratulate her, and Heidi says she hopes there aren't any hard feelings between them. Although Audrina and Lauren both vowed to be on the lookout for new guys, it seems like the two still only have eyes for their old flames. While Audrina takes a motorcycle ride with Justin, Lauren finally gets some face time with Jason at a coffee shop. Meeting for the first time since their breakup, Lauren gives Jason a big hug and a huge smile. Jason brings up their breakup, saying it was really weird for him to cut Lauren out of his life cold turkey. Lauren says she needed a clean break from him, but Jason says it was really difficult and admits that their relationship was hard for him to get over. Lauren can't help but agree. It looks like the two are getting back on track, but where will this rekindled friendship lead?
They Meet Again
Audrina's back from a weekend away with Justin and she can't stop smiling. After all the drama, they've decided to officially become a couple. Lauren squeals with delight, excited that Audrina has finally figured things out with Justin. At Heidi and Spencer's apartment, Spencer asks Heidi how Elodie's holding up since the promotion. Heidi says her jump ahead was business, not personal, and their relationship is fine. Over at Teen Vogue, editor Lisa Love and her team talk about the Young Hollywood party, where Marc Jacobs will be showcasing his Marc by Marc Jacobs line. It's the first time Jacobs is doing a show in Los Angeles, so the Teen Vogue team wants to hit this party out of the park and pack the house with 1,500 special guests. It's up to Whitney and Lauren to find the perfect venue. At Bolthouse, Heidi gives detailed instructions to her new assistant as Elodie looks on. Heidi wants to make sure all the "important" calls from Spencer, Brent and Jen Bunney make it right through while everyone else must leave a message. Scouting party locations, Whitney and Lauren brainstorm ideas for the fashion show. While Whitney snaps some pictures of a possible venue, Lauren fills her friend in on her coffee date with Jason. Whitney's impressed by the big step, which Lauren says went well. Lauren admits she's happy she saw Jason again, especially since he was the person she'd always confide in. Back in the office after another venue visit, Lauren tells Whitney that Audrina and Justin are back on as boyfriend and girlfriend. But, learning from what happened with Heidi and Spencer, Lauren vows to steer clear of getting in the middle of her friend's love life. Mid-chat, Lauren gets a call from Jason, who asks her out to dinner. At L.A.'s newest hotspot, Ketchup, Lauren and Jason laugh like it's old times again over dinner. But their fun abruptly ends as Heidi and Spencer stroll into the restaurant to celebrate Heidi's promotion. Spencer walks right up to Lauren and Jason's table, sarcastically saying, "It's great to see you guys back together; it's heartwarming." Lauren just rolls her eyes, while Heidi takes a seat two tables away. During dinner, Spencer and Heidi joke that Lauren must have picked Jason up from rehab or jail and wonder whether or not the two are "back in the moviemaking" business. Heidi decides to send over some drinks - water for Jason and a Shirley Temple for Lauren. When the complimentary beverages arrive, Lauren sends them back, urging Jason to be on his best behavior. Although Jason wants to clock Spencer, Lauren says not to sink to their level. Instead, she thinks it's time to head home. But before the two are out the door, Heidi screams "goodbye" in their direction. On the ride home, Jason says that Heidi's finally found her perfect match in Spencer. He claims he knew the girl was shady from the moment he met her, and Lauren says that Heidi's committed the biggest betrayal possible. As she gets out of the car, Lauren apologizes for the interrupted evening and says goodnight. At work, Heidi fills Elodie in on the previous night's confrontation. Heidi can't believe that Lauren would be talking to her "crazy, abusive" ex-bf and is upset that they sent her drinks back. Elodie is quick to put Heidi in her place by asking what exactly Heidi did to Lauren to make her not want to be her friend anymore. She then points out that Heidi's lost all of her friends since settling down with Spencer and doesn't appear to know what's right or wrong anymore. Then, Elodie blatantly blows her off. That night at Don Antonio's, frequent diners Heidi and Spencer share a toast to her new job. But Heidi's not quite in the mood to celebrate. Tired from work, she's feeling a little overwhelmed by her new position and upset about the tension between her and Elodie.
For Better Or Worse
Lauren and Jason have been spending a lot of time together lately, leaving people wondering if they're becoming more than friends. But while having lunch together, Jason lets it slip that, not only does he have a girlfriend, but they're moving in together. Lauren's stunned, but agrees to meet the new lady in Jason's life. At Teen Vogue, editor Lisa Love tells Whitney that for her first photo shoot she'll be working with the five guys from the Red Jumpsuit Apparatus. Lisa warns her that bands are notoriously difficult to deal with, so the buck stops at Whitney - she's in charge and any mistakes will be on her shoulders. While out shopping, Jen Bunney watches as Heidi tries on wedding dresses. Heidi can't believe she's going to be a bride soon. Jen asks Heidi whether she's sure she's doing the right thing by taking the plunge with Spencer at such a young age and Heidi says she can't picture her life without Spencer. In the Red Jumpsuit Apparatus' hotel room, Lauren and Whitney meet the guys and have them try on jeans. Flirty from the get-go, the guys ask what's up for the evening, so Whitney invites them to go out to a dive bar with them. The girls are excited to go out with the band, but Lauren's not sure it's cool to mix business with pleasure. Out at The Dime, The Hills girls meet up with the Red Jumpsuit, who immediately want to do a round of shots, even though Whitney reminds then about the shoot the next morning. As they all start banging them back, Whitney says she hopes she doesn't get wasted. Despite saying they were going to make it an early night, they all head to another bar. Looks like Lauren and Whitney are in it for the long haul. The next morning, the band is late to the photo shoot. When the guys finally arrive, one of them refuses to wear the jeans that Whitney has picked out. Given everything that's going wrong, Whitney worries that Lisa Love's going to have a fit. Getting ready to register for their wedding, Heidi and Spencer hit up a home goods store. Spencer's less than enthused about the shopping excursion. Heidi can't understand why he's so resistant, but Spencer says there's no point in having people buy an armload of gifts they aren't going to use. At Jason's housewarming party, Lauren meets Jason's new lady, Katja. Lauren looks on as the two smooch, feeling increasingly uncomfortable, despite the fact that she tells Jason she's OK. Then, Jason's friends interrupt the party to make a huge announcement -Jason and Katja just got engaged. Lauren raises her glass to toast, but quickly bolts from the scene, saying she needs some air. Jason follows Lauren outside to find out what's up. Lauren says she thinks it's dumb to get engaged at such a young age, but Jason quickly points out that her parents married when they were 20 years old. When Lauren argues that her parents dated for six years, Jason says he's been with Katja for seven months. He wants Lauren to be happy for him, but Lauren says she can't be. Back at Teen Vogue, Whitney faces the music about the photo shoot in Lisa Love's office. Lisa reprimands Whitney, saying she went beyond the line of duty by taking the band out for drinks. Even though Whitney just wanted to make the guys feel comfortable, Lisa says their lateness was probably the result of going out the night before. Lisa tells Whitney she needs to command respect and step up as the boss. Over lunch, Heidi and Spencer chat about their wedding plans. When Spencer suggests they get married in Tibet, Heidi says she doesn't want to fly everyone out so far. Spencer says he thought they were going to elope, and Heidi argues that she wants a full-blown wedding. Then, Spencer lets it slip that he hasn't told his parents that they're getting married. Heidi gets upset and asks if he's embarrassed, and Spencer doesn't really have a response. Meanwhile, Lauren tells Whitney that she's dazed, given the fact that she just met Jason's fiance the night before. Lauren says that the way the announcement was made - next to a keg and a Bob Marley poster - it was hard to take seriously. Lauren admits there was a point during the party when she realized that she could have been the one getting engaged. And, as much as she loves Jason, she's glad that's not the way things turned out.
What Happens In Vegas...
After all the drama at Jason's engagement party, Lauren's ready to head out of The Hills for a little while. And what better way to escape than to head to Las Vegas and surprise Brody on his 24th birthday? So Lauren, Lo and Audrina pack their bags and get ready to go to Vegas, baby! Meanwhile, at Heidi and Spencer's apartment, the couple is ready for their own fiesta - their one-year anniversary. Spencer has all of the details planned, including a visit to a day spa and a special dinner at their favorite restaurant, Don Antonio's. But before they head out, Heidi asks Spencer if he's told his parents about their wedding. Spencer says he'll share the news after they're married, but Heidi says a surprise wedding wasn't part of the deal. Later, Heidi asks Spencer if he's sad he's missing out on Brody's Vegas vacation. Spencer shrugs it off, saying he hopes his former friend receives "loyalty" for his birthday. Ready to jet set, Justin sits at the airport waiting for Audrina and the rest of The Hills girls with his guitar case. When the crew rolls up cheering, Lo's immediately turned off when Justin doesn't say "hello." Is he still mad that Lo called him "Justin Bobby" when they first met? Already in Las Vegas, Brody is partying with his boys in his swanky Palms suite and getting ready for a wild weekend when the doorbell rings. The birthday boy thinks it's room service, but when he opens the door he finds a little more than he bargained for, as Lauren flings herself into his arms! At Bolthouse, Elodie tells a co-worker she's still fuming at Heidi and has given her notice. It's her last day, so she's making the rounds and saying goodbye to everyone. Elodie says it's time for her to take the next step and move past the whole "Heidi situation." Meanwhile, Heidi's boss, Brent, tells Heidi that she's in charge of the red carpet event for the Emmy Awards the next night. Heidi mentions that it's also her anniversary with Spencer, hoping that she can bail on the extra responsibility. Brent lets her off the hook as long as it's covered, and Heidi swears the situation will be under control. To settle her scheduling conflict, Heidi makes her way over to Elodie's desk. Heidi asks if everything is under control and Elodie says the red carpet details are locked in. When Heidi asks if she'll cover for her, Elodie sarcastically says she would do anything for Heidi. Feeling the tension, Heidi slips in an apology of sorts, saying her promotion was "business, not personal." But as Heidi walks away, Elodie cracks a devilish smile. At Brody's birthday dinner, Brody hugs Lauren and says he has the most beautiful date in the place. He thanks The Hills crew for spending his 24th with him and asks where Spencer and Heidi are. Spencer's birthday is only a few days before his, and while Brody sent Spencer a text, he has gotten no love in return. When Audrina and Justin make a late entrance, Lo's perplexed by how aloof Justin is. But Brody's friend Frankie is far more interested in stirring the pot and sparking a romance between Brody and Lauren. Pulling Lauren aside, Frankie asks if she'd be interested in becoming a little more than friends with Brody. While Lauren says they have already tried (and failed) at that, Frankie says that they spent their time together fighting over Spencer. Now that those two are out of the picture, he thinks there's a possibility for a love connection. The next morning, Frankie talks to Brody about starting things up with Lauren again, but Brody says they're just friends. While sunbathing, Lo mentions that she hasn't seen Audrina and Justin all day. Lo thinks Justin's purposefully keeping his distance, but Lauren defends him, saying it might be awkward for him to try to fit in with a new crowd. Then, switching gears, Lo asks Lauren if she'd ever date Brody again, but Lauren swears the pair is just friends. Looks like Frankie's not the only one who thinks a Lauren-Brody hookup is a possibility. During their last night in Las Vegas, everyone's getting closer ? including Lo and Frankie, who start macking it at the club. In the spirit, Lauren plants a big, wet birthday kiss on Brody's lips - it's enough to raise Audrina's eyebrows. At Don Antonio's, Spencer's gone all out for his anniversary dinner with Heidi. With their table decked out in rose petals and candles, Heidi smiles, glad that Elodie is covering for her at the Emmys. Back in Las Vegas, The Hills girls spend time on Brody's revolving bed and Lo views it as the perfect time to bring up Justin's bad behavior with Audrina. But Audrina says it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks - it's her relationship. When Lo says she's just looking for him to say "hi," Audrina sarcastically says she'll never talk to Justin again if that's what'll make her friends happy. With this, Lauren leaves the room because she feels Audrina is on the defensive. Once Lauren leaves, Audrina says she's done with the conversation and takes off. During their anniversary dinner, Heidi gets a call from a co-worker, saying that the Emmy party is a mess. Even better, Elodie isn't there - after all, yesterday was her last day. (Guess she forgot to say bye to Heidi - oops.) Bolthouse needs a rep there ASAP, so Heidi says she'll head over. Spencer is livid, and when Heidi says she's sorry he responds with "no you don't." There's trouble in Sin City as well when Brody and Lauren argue over the way Justin is acting. Brody tries to defend the dude, but Lauren's having none of it, saying Audrina's bad boy is giving Lo the cold shoulder because she called him "Justin Bobby" once. Brody argues that he's just trying to mediate the situation, and Lauren tells him that he's always fighting other people's battles. But when the conversation gets a little heated, Brody tells Lauren they should stop bickering and start cuddling.
What Goes Around
Despite their big falling out, Jen Bunney texts Lauren, saying they need to talk. Lauren hasn't heard from Jen since she and Heidi conspired against her. What could Jen possibly have to say to Lauren? Hearing from Jen makes Lauren think about her current friendships. Still feeling uneasy about their fight in Las Vegas, she apologizes to Audrina about being too judgmental about Justin. She tells Audrina to let her know when she's being annoying or overstepping her boundaries. The apology is accepted and life on The Hills takes a turn for the better. Now the question is- can Lauren resolve things with Jen? Meanwhile, Heidi must explain to her boss, Brent, why she asked Elodie, who no longer works for Bolthouse, to cover her shift at the Emmys. She's scolded about dropping the ball and told that her new position is not just a job, it's a career. Brent tells her there must be no more excuses; she must live up to all the promises she made in order to get the promotion. To make up for the mishap, Heidi must pull out all the stops to make sure things run smoothly from here on out. She says she won't let anyone down ever again. But will she really be able to dedicate herself to the job when she's got Spencer waiting at home? Even though Lo thinks she shouldn't, Lauren meets her old friend, Jen Bunney, for lunch. It's been so long since they've last seen each other that they awkwardly fumble around with some chitchat, desperately trying to break the ice. Then Jen smashes the ice by bringing up Lauren and Jason's supposed sex tape scandal. Jen reveals that Heidi told her that Brody is the mastermind behind the rumors and gossip, but Lauren doesn't buy it. Their meeting ends in silence, as the two girls finish their food and go their separate ways. Lauren may have tried to brush off what Jen told her, but she can't seem to get it off her mind. She goes home and plops down on the couch to talk to her personal therapist, Audrina. They are both baffled by how Heidi could fabricate such a lie about Brody. Looks like only time will reveal the truth? At their apartment, Spencer can't believe that Heidi was chewed out at work. He thinks it's unfair that she got in trouble because Elodie quit the same day Heidi asked her to cover the Emmys. They agree that there was no reason for Elodie to bail and make Heidi look bad - Heidi earned that promotion fair and square. Spencer fills Heidi in on the lesson she just learned: you can't depend on anybody. On the other side of The Hills, Audrina is playing pool with Justin, telling him about Lauren's apology. The couple agrees there's too much drama going on when life should just be mellow and chill. As Audrina wins the game, she says she thinks things between Brody and Lauren might spark up again, which could bring some peace and quiet to everyone's life. Speaking of Brody, it's about time for Lauren to play super-sleuth. She invites him out to dinner, hoping to gain some insight into the sex tape chaos. When she tells him what Jen said, he shakes his head and denies, denies, denies! At this point Lauren is totally confused and tells Brody he must tell her the truth. Lauren thinks Spencer and Heidi started the rumors, but Brody doesn't want to talk trash about Spencer, even though they're not friends anymore. As Lauren gets more and more agitated with Brody, he finally spills the beans. He looks right into Lauren's eyes and says that he knows for a fact that Heidi and Spencer started the rumors. At Teen Vogue, Lauren tells Whitney about what went down during dinner with Brody. Lauren admits she's astounded by Brody's loyalty to his "friends." Even though he and Spencer are no longer homeboys, he was willing to bite his tongue for his ex-BFF, even though Spencer was more than willing to tell people that Brody spread the rumors. Whitney then questions whether Heidi was actually in on spreading the rumors or if she just didn't stop Spencer from doing it. Lauren isn't sure, but she wants all the drama to end, so she texts Jen to set the record straight. When Jen meets Heidi for lunch, she tells Heidi that Brody blamed all the ongoing rumors on her and Spencer. Jen wants to be reassured that they weren't the ones who spread the rumors, so she asks Heidi straight up if she or Spencer had anything to do with them. Heidi is offended by the accusation, saying that Jen should know better. At home, Heidi tells Spencer about her lunch date with Jen. Heidi can't believe everyone is blaming Spencer for spreading such rumors! But as Heidi looks at Spencer, he grows silent and subtly smirks at her. Did Spencer do it?
No More Mr Nice Guy
After kissing Brody in Las Vegas, Lauren is left wondering what their status is. Feeling things out at dinner, Lauren tells Brody that she hasn't been on a date for weeks. He suggests that she's still on a quest for a "certain type" of guy. When Lauren asks what he means, Brody says she needs a nice guy with a bad boy streak. Changing the subject, Lauren looks at the menu and says nothing's catching her eye, causing Brody to raise his eyebrows and give her a playful look. At Bolthouse, Brent tells Heidi that she'll be working with Elodie's replacement, Kimberly, at an upcoming NASCAR event. Heidi introduces herself to Kimberly and offers to show her the ropes. Meanwhile, Whitney and Lauren are casting models for Teen Vogue's Young Hollywood issue. As Whitney snaps Polaroids, Lauren signs in the studs. When a blond-haired boy named Gavin makes his way to the front of the line, he asks Lauren if she remembers him from a previous photo shoot. A light bulb goes off for Lauren, who remembers trying to set him up with Heidi during the pre-Spencer days. Now that Heidi's off the market, Gavin makes a play for Lauren and grabs her digits on the way out. On the other side of The Hills, Spencer springs surprise dinner reservations on Heidi in hopes of recreating their anniversary celebration that was cut short. When she reminds him that she'll be working all night at the NASCAR event, Spencer swears she never mentioned her plans before. She suggests they have a late-night bite to eat, but he turns her down. When Spencer gives her a hard time about working so much, Heidi suggests he get a job - maybe then he'll understand her demanding schedule. While Heidi and Spencer are fighting, Lauren, Audrina and Lo are getting ready for Brody's beach BBQ. The girls dig for dirt on Lauren's potential new boy toy, Gavin, asking whether he's going to make it to the beach. When Lauren says he'll be there, Lo claps and says she loves "passing judgment" on people and Audrina wonders what Brody and Frankie will think of Lauren's new beau. On the beach, Frankie busts Brody's chops about his Vegas hook up with Lauren as The Hills girls arrive. When Frankie tells Brody that Lauren invited a guy, Brody claims he doesn't care. But when Gavin strolls in, things get awkward as Brody grills Gavin about his past and intentions when it comes to Lauren. Could Brody be jealous? Frankie thinks so, but, as usual, Lauren says they're just friends. At the NASCAR event, Heidi checks in with Kimberly to make sure all of Bolthouse's affairs are in order. When Spencer calls to find out when Heidi will be free, Heidi tells him it's going to be a late night. As she's apologizing, a frustrated Spencer hangs up. Back at the BBQ, Brody tells Lo that he isn't sold on Lauren's new guy, Gavin. When he says Gavin's too "perfect," Lo asks if he still has feelings for Lauren. Brody sidesteps the question by saying he just doesn't think Gavin's the right guy for Lauren. The next day at Bolthouse, Spencer unexpectedly drops in to take Heidi to lunch, but his lady has to turn him away because she's in the middle of a meeting. When he half-jokingly demands to talk to her boss about her busy schedule, Heidi points out that he knew her new job would mean more responsibility. As they start to argue, Heidi walks away and heads back to the meeting. Over sushi, Lauren apologizes to Gavin for Brody's behavior at the beach house, but Gavin insists that Brody was just being nice. When Gavin asks Lauren about her dating history, she tells him she's had a string of bad luck, always managing to find nice guys who turn crazy... present company excluded, of course.
At home after her date, Lauren rings up Brody, who calls her out for having an early night. She tells him that she had a good time but no sparks flew between her and Gavin. When she mentions she's going to spend the rest of the night watching a movie, Brody invites himself over. Is Lauren's perfect match hiding right under her nose?
Stress And The City
After weeks of hard work, Whitney thinks she's finally found the perfect place for Teen Vogue to host the Young Hollywood party. And, after Whitney gives editor Lisa Love a tour of an old church, her boss is clearly impressed. Later, when Whitney and Lauren are called into Lisa's office, they learn they're being sent to New York City to present the Young Hollywood party plans to the magazine's editor in chief, Amy Astley. The Hills girls are excited to be going together - especially Whitney, who didn't want to give the presentation by herself. But forget about the presentation, what are they going to wear?! While Lauren already has the perfect dress in mind, Whitney needs to find something ASAP. At Bolthouse, Spencer runs into Brody's new main man, Frankie. Picking up a paycheck, Frankie calls Spencer out for not returning Brody's birthday call, and Spencer says it's just plain wrong for Brody to be hanging out with his enemy, Lauren. Frankie counters Spencer's argument by saying they're all adults and should hang out with whoever they want ? and suggests that Brody's birthday call was an attempt at reconciliation. The ball's in Spencer's court, but Spencer says he's ready to move forward. After touching down in NYC, Lauren and Whitney make their way to the Teen Vogue headquarters. Waiting in the lobby all dolled up, the two joke that they look like Barbie dolls, and Whitney admits she's nervous because she didn't practice her presentation. Ushered into Amy Astley's office, the girls learn that Lauren's going to work with Marc Jacobs for the day, leaving Whitney flying solo at the Young Hollywood meeting. At Marc Jacobs' design studio, Lauren meets with Kate Waters, VP of communications, amongst a sea of models prepping for a casting call. The big fashion show is coming up, so Kate is happy that Lauren will be helping out. Lauren's tasked with styling the models before sending them to the casting director. Back at Teen Vogue, Whitney has her big presentation. While going over the location details, Whitney's thrown off guard by Amy Astley's questions. Amy and her staff don't seem very impressed, and Amy tells Whitney to go back and make a bunch of changes. Over at the design studio, Lauren works hard at dressing the models. Exhausted, she takes a seat as Marc Jacobs rolls into the room and introduces himself. After a hand shake, she nervously tells him she's alphabetizing. After a big day in NYC, Whitney and Lauren pack their bags and get ready to head back to The Hills. Lauren's still swooning from meeting Marc Jacobs and says she's going to give Lisa Love a hug as soon as she gets home. Although she had fun with Whitney, Lauren admits that she misses Brody. At Spencer and Heidi's apartment, Spencer gives Brody an unexpected phone call. Leaving a voicemail message, he says that he has a few things he'd like to talk over with his former BFF. Home from NYC, Whitney and Lauren arrive at Patina for a food tasting with Lisa Love. While the group waits for the food to arrive, Lisa tells Whitney that the presentation went very well and Amy Astley's excited for the upcoming party. Although Lisa's happy with Whitney's performance, she takes a stab at Whitney's choice of clothes for the NYC meeting, saying her outfit was "very dressy" and joking that she now expects Whitney to dress up every day. As the food arrives, they toast the upcoming Young Hollywood party. That night, Brody stops by Lauren's apartment. As she gives him a big hug, he immediately takes notice of all the lit candles, asking if she's trying to set a mood. After Lauren quickly runs through her trip to NYC, Brody reveals he received an unexpected call from Spencer. His former BFF has finally reached out, but Brody hasn't called him back yet. Although he loves Spencer, Brody doesn't think the two can be friends again. When Lauren says she doesn't want to come between the former best buds, Brody insists he made this decision on his own. Wanting to change the subject, Brody tells Lauren to move closer and give him a hug. As they snuggle up, Lauren says she knew the candles would work.
Young Hollywood
It's Heidi's 21st birthday, so Spencer sends a big bouquet of roses to her office. He's excited to celebrate his fiancee's big day, saying in the card that Heidi's "the greatest thing that ever happened" to him. But that's not the only big event that's taking place. After weeks of hard work, the Teen Vogue Young Hollywood party that Whitney and Lauren helped put together is finally here. Editor Lisa Love tells Lauren that she'll be backstage with the models while Whitney works the front of house, which Lisa says will be "horrible" and "chaotic." Despite knowing it's going to be a madhouse, Lisa is adamant that there should be no "screw ups" and the Marc by Marc Jacobs fashion show must start on time. During her lunch break, Audrina tells an Epic Records co-worker that she and Justin are going to check out The Ruse, an unsigned band, that night. Audrina wants to scope them out for Epic... and spend some alone time with Justin, even though she's not quite sure it's date. Meanwhile, during Heidi's birthday lunch with new Bolthouse employee Kimberly, Heidi orders a glass of wine to celebrate the fact that she's finally legal. It's been a big year for Heidi, who says she feels like she's experienced a lot of personal growth. Heidi says she's not going to get wild and crazy on her birthday; she's just going to have a low-key dinner with Spencer since he's all that really matters in her life. Kimberley's surprised that Heidi doesn't want to have a big blowout to celebrate her 21st, which only happens once in a lifetime. While preparing for the Teen Vogue Young Hollywood party, Lauren and Whitney are tasked with putting together 1,500 gift baskets. They discuss the fact that Whitney's in charge of seating, and she admits she's worried that she might be in over her head. She knows her biggest priority is getting everyone seated on time. A few hours later, Whitney's briefed on what's going to go down that night and learns that she must seat close to 400 people in just fifteen minutes... and there's no seating plan. Whitney will be the point person for the event, which means she'll have to take the blame if something goes wrong. Backstage, Whitney and Lauren test their headsets and run through their communication channels to make sure everything works and they know exactly what they're doing. As Lauren starts dressing the models and Whitney gets ready to seat people, Teen Vogue editor Lisa Love scopes out the red carpet, which is getting backed up and leaving celebrities like Hayden Panettiere standing outside. With all the red carpet chaos, she decides the fashion show must be pushed back 30 minutes. Meanwhile, Audrina and Justin hit the Viper Room to watch The Ruse. After the show, Audrina introduces herself to the band, mentioning that she works for Epic Records and plans on giving their CD to the label's A&R rep. After chatting it up, the group invites her and Justin to an after-party. Elsewhere, Heidi is celebrating her birthday with Spencer, who presents her with the newest, biggest Chanel bag on the market. Heidi squeals with delight, saying it's the best gift ever. But when the conversation cools, Heidi puts on a glum face, leading Spencer to ask what's wrong. She says she's fine, but could Heidi be bummed she didn't opt for a big party? Back at the Young Hollywood party, things are really heating up. Whitney frantically starts seating guests as Lauren tries to touch base with her via the headset. When Whitney doesn't answer, Lauren seeks her out and discovers that she has removed her earpiece. With everyone seemingly seated, Whitney tells Lauren everything is good to go, so Lauren runs backstage to tell the models to head out onto the runway. But as soon as Lauren disappears, Whitney discovers that Hilary Duff hasn't been seated yet. The show can't start until Hilary is front and center, but Whitney can't seem to get in touch with Lauren! As the models ramp up, Whitney finally gets Lauren on the line and Hilary makes it to her seat just as the fashion show kicks off. While having drinks with The Ruse, Audrina orders a "Naughty Schoolgirl," which comes with a lollipop. When Justin slips off to the bathroom, one of the band members slips in and starts chatting up Audrina, inviting her to an after-after-party. But when Justin returns, the guy wonders whether Audrina is spoken for. When Audrina steps away, the band member that has his eye on her approaches Justin to find out what their deal is. Justin tells him they're "cool." But when the dude asks if he can ask Audrina out, Justin clicks his tongue, shakes his head and says she's already "pretty good." When Audrina comes back, Justin says he thinks it's time to leave. While walking out the door, Justin teases her about the guy from The Ruse and they share a laugh. Back at the Young Hollywood party, the festivities are in full swing and go off without a hitch. Afterwards, Whitney and Lauren get the thumbs up from Lisa Love and Teen Vogue editor in chief Amy Astley, who applaud them for their good work and suggest they do this type of party every year. Finishing up her 21st birthday bash with Spencer, Heidi says she's happy to have a drama-free celebration. But while she silently eats a slice of cake while Spencer texts someone, Heidi doesn't look too happy.
Forgive And Forget
After the success of the Young Hollywood party, Teen Vogue editor Lisa Love decides to send Lauren and Whitney to cover an event celebrating the power of voting. It's a Declare Yourself party, and the girls will be on-hand to take notes. In preparation, The Hills girls head to the party's website to get the details and, more importantly, find out who's on the guest list. When Brent Bolthouse's name pops up, Lauren and Whitney wonder whether Heidi will be there. Meanwhile, over at Bolthouse, Heidi finds out that she'll be attending the party. She and Kimberly have tickets courtesy of Brent, and they're both looking forward to hitting the red carpet and having some fun. That night at the star-studded Declare Yourself party, Whitney and Lauren agree that this is their best Teen Vogue assignment yet. For once, they've been told to just enjoy themselves and have fun. But who knows how long their fun will last - especially when Heidi and Kimberly are spotted. Meanwhile, Audrina and Justin head to a bar, where Audrina plays with Justin's hair as he puts his head down on the table. Although it looks like Justin isn't feeling the date, Audrina's excited to share the news that she's been promoted at Epic Records. When she says she's nervous about the new position, Justin pounds down a shot and lets out a big burp. Back at the party, Whitney asks Lauren if she's upset that Heidi's there. Lauren shrugs, saying she can't do anything about the situation. Although Lauren opts to ignore Heidi, her former BFF marches right up to her. Heidi asks how Lauren's doing, but Lauren refuses to answer, saying she won't talk to Heidi until she apologizes for spreading those nasty sex tape rumors awhile ago. Heidi argues that she hasn't done anything wrong, but Lauren says she's guilty by association with Spencer. When it becomes clear that they won't reach an agreement, Heidi walks off. The next morning, Lauren fills Audrina in on all the drama that went down. Upset with Heidi's denial, Lauren says that doing nothing is sometimes the same as committing the crime. Lauren can't understand how Heidi can sleep next to someone that spread such lies. After her big promotion at Epic, Audrina's first assignment is to attend Sean Kingston's Jimmy Kimmel Live rehearsal with Chiara. As Sean sings, Audrina checks the time, saying that she's supposed to go out with Justin. Chiara says they won't be done until much later. At Teen Vogue, Lauren gets a surprising IM from Heidi. Hoping to clear the air, Heidi asks Lauren if they can meet up and talk. Heidi says she wants to put all of their drama in the past, and Lauren reluctantly invites Heidi over to the apartment after work. Backstage at Jimmy Kimmel, Audrina and Chiara ask Sean Kingston to sign some autographs for them. Sean gives the girls a lesson in the latest lingo, and, when their work is done, The Hills girls get a big hug from the man himself. Walking out, Audrina wonders if she should give Justin a ring, but she ultimately decides not to. While on the computer, Spencer stumbles across an open IM chat that steals his attention. Calling Heidi over, he asks what's up with the Lauren conversation. Heidi says she wants to put the past behind them and try to work things out, but Spencer tells her to be careful heading into the "lion's den." The next day at Epic, Chiara brings over a vase full of flowers from Sean Kingston. Although Audrina was nervous about her first big project, she's excited that the day went so smoothly. That night, Heidi pulls up to her old apartment holding yellow roses for Lauren. Inside, Heidi apologizes for the way things went down at the party, saying that their situation has gotten way out of hand with all the rumors and "he said, she said" nonsense. Heidi swears she had nothing to do with the rumors but refuses to say that Spencer had any part in it. If Spencer did do anything, though, she says she's sorry on his behalf. Lauren questions Heidi, saying she has to know that Spencer did it. Heidi says her man isn't bad, while Lauren says she wishes Heidi could understand how awful the rumor was for her. Heidi says she wishes everything could be taken back and that she misses having Lauren as a friend. Almost in tears, Lauren says she doesn't understand how Spencer could hate her so much and why Heidi is sticking by him. Heidi makes a final effort to apologize for the things that have happened to Lauren and the way their friendship ended, and Lauren appreciates the effort. But Lauren just can't seem to forgive and forget, so Heidi decides it's time to leave.
With This Ring...
Just as Heidi's apology didn't make the cut in the last episode of The Hills, Spencer's hope to elope in Cabo falls flat when he shares this latest bright idea with Heidi. Over lunch, Heidi wants to nail down her wedding plans, but Spencer isn't too enthused about planning the details of the big celebration. When her fiance suggests he doesn't care, Heidi decides to take all wedding decisions into her own hands... Spencer will just show up in a suit. Working out at the gym, Whitney asks personal trainer, Jarett, to go to a sports bar with Lauren, Audrina and herself. Unable to turn down a night out with the three ladies, Jarett agrees to meet up at Big Wangs. Cooling down at a cafe, Whitney tells Lauren and Audrina that she has zero expectations from guys... she just wants to have fun. Whitney wants to get back into the dating game and is ready to kick off the fun by getting ready to go out with the girls. Getting serious about walking down the aisle, Spencer and Heidi take a look at a potential church for their wedding. After a brief conversation with a pastor, Spencer is surprised to learn that the church requires pre-marital counseling. Although Spencer says he wants to settle down by the end of the month, the couple learns they'll have to plan the big shin-dig at least six months in advance. Over at the Hillside Villas, Lauren, Whitney and Audrina are getting ready for the night ahead. As Audrina primps by the mirror, Lauren points out that Whitney's getting a little glamorous for the sports bar. Twirling in her skirt for the girls, Whitney's is definitely excited to look cute for Jarett. At the bar, Lauren has a toast for a girl's night out... with Jarret. The trainer doesn't waste any time in wooing Whitney - after entering into the bar, he quickly whisks Whitney away to a game of pool. After some smiles and laughs, Jarett asks Whitney if she'd like to join him for a one-on-one personal training session the next morning. The next day, Jarett and Whitney have a run up a Hollywood dirt path for their workout. After a couple of exercises on top of the mountain, the two take in the gorgeous view of Los Angeles. To Whitney's pleasant surprise, Jarett takes the opportunity to ask her out on a date. Back at her apartment, Heidi thumbs through some new bridal magazines, loving all the endless options for her fairytale wedding. Meanwhile, the reality of getting married is starting to set in for Spencer, who is taken aback by all the talk of tiaras and pastries. At the Teen Vogue office, Whitney tells Lauren that Jarett asked her out on a date. As is true in any first date situation, Whitney's excited but worried she might get uncomfortable. Later that night, Jarett and Whitney hit a trendy outdoor restaurant in Hollywood for their first official date. After some normal chatting and cheers, Jarett reveals that he's recently came out of a relationship. Whitney admits that she has just exited out of a twosome as well and isn't planning on getting serious any time soon. Ready to keep it simple and just have fun, the two daters tap glasses in celebration of their single status. After a long day at work, Heidi returns home to see two packed bags. Spencer says that they're going to go on a "little adventure"... aka eloping in Las Vegas. Heidi immediately turns down Spencer's latest surprise, opting for an argument instead. As Heidi's told Spence time and time again, she wants a traditional wedding with family, friends and all the trimmings... and she's not willing to compromise. When it looks like Spencer's dead set against fulfilling her wedding day wishes, Heidi says they should think about the whole wedding thing a little bit longer. Removing her engagement ring, Heidi places the rock on top of the coffee table and leaves the room. A speechless Spencer stares at the ring for some time, then puts it in his pocket and leaves the apartment with one suitcase in hand. The next day at Bolthouse, Heidi's colleague, Kimberly, sits down in Heidi's office for a chat. Heidi retells her entire fight with Spencer, saying she's upset that he left for the night without even trying to work anything out. How could they possibly be married down the road and not even be able to work through a small fight right now? Kimberly suggests just laying everything out on the table, and a nearly tearful Heidi pauses to realize the depth of her situation. Meanwhile, Whitney and Lauren meet up for lunch, where Whitney is dying to tell Lauren all about her date with Jarett. Whitney's happy to report that the first date turned out to be comfortable. But, although Whitney was excited to get back out in the dating scene, she has to admit to feeling the friend vibe with him... especially since their night out didn't end in a kiss. That night, Spencer returns home with roses in hand for a somber Heidi. Spencer says that he stayed at his parent's house the night before and serves up a serious apology to Heidi. Singing a different tune from the night before, Spence says he wants to do whatever will make Heidi happy. He promises that there won't be any more surprises down the road - he's ready to give Heidi the wedding she's always dreamed of. Heidi stands her ground at first, expressing how upset she was when he split and left her sleeping alone, but when Spencer hands her back the ring and says he wants to marry her, Heidi accepts his apology and takes back her bling.
A Night At The Opera
Drama, drama, drama! Lauren has had enough trouble avoiding confrontation with Heidi and Spencer, but now that Spencer's sister is visiting The Hills, it looks as though Lauren's in for yet another unpleasant run-in with the Pratt family. Stephanie is ready to spend some quality time with her brother, Spencer, and his wife-to-be, Heidi. Catching up, Heidi asks her future sister whether or not she's heard about the wedding plans. Answering with 'Tibet', it looks as though the apple doesn't fall far from the tree in Spencer's family. In fact, Stephanie even offers to marry the two herself since she applied for a license... much to Heidi's disapproval. At home in The Hills, Audrina complains to Lauren about Justin's bad behavior. Apparently, his wandering eye is getting her down - why can't he just be happy with her? While she understands that guys like to look, Audrina doesn't think Justin needs to keep his eyes so wide open. When Audrina says that their relationship seems perfect behind closed doors, Lauren jokes that they would be the ideal couple... if they were hermits. Out at Opera with Audrina, Brody and Frankie, the drama comes in full force when Stephanie approaches the table and tells Brody to stop hanging out behind enemy lines. Stephanie and her friend, Roxie, tell Lauren that she'd better stop bothering their best friend, Heidi. Lauren asks the girls what she's done to Heidi and when they say Lauren's bad-mouthing their friend, Lauren tells the two to fight their own battles and stay out of her business. Stephanie calls Heidi family, and says that if Lauren hates Heidi, she in turn hates Lauren. At this point, Brody steps in, saying Spencer made a mistake and has to live with the consequences. Telling Stephanie and Roxie to stop getting involved, he becomes frustrated with the girls, asking what he ever did to them. As if this blowup wasn't enough, Justin Bobby stirs some trouble of his own. Leaving Audrina alone in the booth with her friends, he wanders off with a redhead and kisses the girl right in front of Audrina. Audrina, Lauren and Brody sit shocked in sheer disbelief of what they just saw. Outside a nightclub, Audrina's left wondering what she should do. When Justin strolls by them casually with the redhead, he walks right in front of Audrina and company without saying a word. Before the random redhead can leave, Audrina stops her in her tracks. The girl denies everything, but Audrina knows her eyes didn't lie. Lauren puts her arm around Audrina, walking her to the car and telling Audrina that it's a horrible situation, but she knew that Justin had been less than faithful. Audrina needed to see it to believe it. As the two walk off, Justin follows them. He manages to pry Audrina from Lauren, working his way with words on the tear- eyed girl. The two realize that their non-labeled relationship isn't working. Justin and Audrina have to either commit to one another or call it quits. In typical Justin Bobby fashion, he shifts the conversation from commitment and asks Audrina if she's actually able to walk away from him. A crying Audrina puts her head on his shoulders, not sure if she can do it, but she knows that she has to make a clean break if she's going to get over him. He asks her if she'd get in a car and drive off with him and his friends. She's reluctant, biting her lip in the parking lot. A few seconds later, a car drives off and Audrina is no where to be found. Lauren, staying back with her friend, Brody, shakes her head. Did Audrina really just abandon her for her cheating boyfriend?! The next morning, Stephanie makes her way back to Spencer and Heidi's apartment. Floating into the room, Stephanie is beaming, excited to share the drama from the night before. As she recounts the night's events with Spencer and Heidi, she surprises even her brother when she says she called Lauren out. Spence is proud of his 'sis for staying loyal, unlike his ex-buddy, Brody. Tired of talking about 'those people', Heidi hushes Spencer and Stephanie. It looks like Heidi is done with these gossip, but, unfortunately, Spencer and Stephanie are not. Later on, Audrina speaks to Chiara about Justin. Apparently, Audrina is standing strong. Last night, when Audrina got in the car, Justin had far from won. Audrina's friends asked her where to be dropped off, and Audrina made Justin go home... alone. In fact, the twosome spent the whole car ride in silence. But will Audrina be able to stick to the break-up when Justin comes crawling back to her apartment? When the boy comes over to the apartment and still denies kissing anyone, Audrina is shocked, saying she saw it with her own eyes. How can she make something like that up? And have other witnesses? Accusing her of tripping, he says that her friends would obviously say they saw him kissing another girl. Despite Justin's sweet talking, Audrina takes a stand and says they should just be friends. After she walks him to the door and sits on her sofa crying, it looks as though Audrina is finally tired of giving Justin second chances.
Once A Player
Couples have been making up and breaking up in The Hills, but Lauren still finds herself in relationship limbo with Brody. While out to eat, Brody tells Lauren she has beautiful eyes but is also quick to check out the assets of the ladies walking by. When he asks about Jen Bunney, Lauren implies that he'll be able to "hang out" with Jen later that night at Lauren and Audrina's Halloween party. Brody laughs off the comment, and Lauren looks seriously disappointed when he keeps checking out other ladies. At Teen Vogue, Whitney and Lauren chat about Lauren's Halloween party. Lauren says she's excited about having a fiesta at her apartment but admits she's even more excited about meeting Audrina's Australian boy toy. Now that Justin has been replaced, she and Whitney are anxious to weigh in on Audrina's new man. When Whitney asks Lauren if she and Brody will be sporting matching costumes, Lauren says he's more likely to have a costume combo with his BFF Frankie. Lauren admits she's not sure what's going on with her and Brody, especially since he's always checking out other girls. Lauren doesn't want to be one out of a million, even if she and Brody do share some serious chemistry. At Heidi and Spencer's pad, Heidi's holding a powwow with Spencer's sister, Stephanie. Heidi's looking for advice about her fiance, recapping the fight she and Spencer had. Heidi thinks they are on warp speed with the whole wedding and it's starting to tear them apart. Although she wants to marry her man, Heidi's beginning to think they should put the whole thing on hold. What's the harm in waiting? Stephanie's shocked, but she promises not to share their conversation with Spencer. Back at Hillside Villas, Lauren and Audrina are in the midst of their Halloween party, where Lauren's prediction was dead-on - Brody and Frankie are dressed as Batman and Robin. Everyone's having a good time, and Lauren's got her eye on Brody - especially when he gives Jen Bunney a big hug. When Brody bounces early, Lauren's clearly unhappy and puts on a pout. The next morning, Audrina's cleaning up the mess when she asks Lauren why Brody and Frankie peaced out so early. Lauren shrugs it off and switches topics, saying she gives her stamp of approval to Audrina's new boy, Corey, because he made an effort with all of their friends. Meanwhile, Spencer and his sister are picking up "Save the Date" cards for the wedding, but Spencer's excitement quickly turns to anger when Stephanie brings up the fight he had with Heidi. Even though she promised Heidi she'd keep her lips zipped, Stephanie tells Spencer that his bride-to-be may not want a wedding at all. A shocked Spencer storms out of the store without the cards. Out on a date, Corey helps Audrina bone up on how to eat sushi with chopsticks. He tells her she should venture down to Australia, and they make plans to go snowboarding during the winter. When Audrina asks what they should do next, Corey asks if she wants to go somewhere else or just go home (wink, wink). On her own date with Lo, Lauren updates her friend on the Halloween party. Lauren shares her disappointment over Brody's early departure and admits that she's interested in heating things up with him but thinks he's enjoying playing the field. Lo points out that he may be waiting for her to say something, but Lauren's hoping he wants to be exclusive with her without being prodded. The next morning, Lauren asks Audrina how her date with Corey went. Although Audrina says she's not used to being treated well, she's excited to have a "keeper" in her life. When Lauren digs deeper for details, Audrina admits that this boy is way more affectionate than Justin. After doing a quick comparison, Lauren decides that Corey is definitely an upgrade from Audrina's previous boyfriend. Back at Heidi and Spencer's apartment, Heidi tidies up while Spencer's deep into a book. Sensing some attitude coming from her fiance, Heidi asks what's going on and Spencer says he got the lowdown from Stephanie. Heidi doesn't think it's his sister's business, but Spencer counters that Heidi made it her business. Spencer thinks Heidi's just dragging things out and trying to stall by planning a big wedding, but Heidi says it's really important for her to have the wedding of her dreams with all her friends and family there. When Heidi claims that Spencer pushed her into moving in with him and she's given up a ton to be with him, Spencer says that he's been chained to the house with her 24-7 and never gets to go out with his friends. After mocking Heidi, Spencer heads to the door. She tells him that if he leaves, he shouldn't bother coming back, but Spencer just keeps on walking. Out to dinner with Brody, Lauren tells him that Audrina and Justin are done. When Brody doesn't believe her, she tells him that Audrina just went on a date with another guy that she really likes. Then she sighs and says, "Sometimes, no matter how much you like a guy, they're just not good for you." When Brody asks Lauren who her bad boy is, she gives him a look, causing Brody to go on the defensive and ask if she thinks he's going to mack other girls. When Lauren takes his phone and thumbs through the numbers of dozens of girls, it seems like the proof is in the pudding. But Brody says they're all old acquaintances and don't mean anything to him. When Lauren says she's not going to tell him what to do, Brody suggests she give him a sign about what he should do. Lauren says she doesn't understand what he's asking for, and the two are left staring at each other. Looks like Lauren is going to keep waiting for Brody to take their relationship to the next level!
When One Door Closes...
Whitney's called into Teen Vogue editor Lisa Love's office and receives some exciting news - she's being sent to Paris on Teen Vogue's tab again! She and Kimbell, her co-worker from the New York office, will be heading to a ball with authentic aristocrats and royalty. Once again, it's a dream come true for Whitney, but she's not forgetting her friend, Lauren, back in the intern room. When Whitney asks Lisa if Lauren will be joining her, Lisa gives Whitney the thumbs down, saying, "Lauren's had her shot at Paris." At Bolthouse, Heidi's making coffee when Kimberly asks for a life update. Heidi says she's gotten into another huge fight with Spencer. After this big blowup, Heidi thinks it's time for her and Spencer to focus on their relationship instead of the wedding. Kimberly thinks the couple hasn't really figured out the source of their problems, and Heidi agrees, saying she feels as though she's in a relationship with a five-year-old. Back at Teen Vogue, Whitney breaks the news about Paris to Lauren. Lauren wants to know if there's another spot open, but Whitney tells her that Lisa Love nixed the idea. Noticeably bummed, Lauren says she never should have passed on the offer the first time around. Although Lauren has tried to prove her commitment to Lisa during the past year, it doesn't seem as though her effort has been noticed. A disappointed Lauren blames the whole fiasco on "stupid Jason." Nearly in tears, Spencer sits slumped over a table at a cafe. When his sister, Stephanie, joins him, he reveals that he walked out on yet another fight with Heidi. After spending time at home with his parents, it seems Spencer's finally figured out the obvious: he's an "idiot." Spencer hasn't talked to his supposed bride-to-be since the fight, and Stephanie says he should reach out to Heidi or else it's a big "adios" to their relationship. At Hillside Villas, Lauren tells Audrina that she missed out on another Paris trip. Although Audrina thinks she should have been asked to go, Lauren says that, since she said no the first time, they have no reason to offer it to her again. The next morning, Spencer makes his way to Bolthouse to try and sort things out with Heidi. But, when his girl is summoned, Kimberly arrives in her place. Heidi has apparently left early. After asking Kimberly to tell Heidi he stopped by, Spencer slinks away defeated. But - surprise, surprise - Heidi hasn't left. She's sitting at her desk, not wanting to talk to Spencer. Meanwhile, Whitney's making a list of Paris apparel and checkin' it twice with Lauren in the Teen Vogue office. Lauren tells her that it's freezing in Paris this time of year, even though she's never actually been there before. The trip is a couple of days away, and while Whitney's aware that it will be a lot of work, she's excited about the opportunity. As the girls chat about hot Parisian boys, Lisa Love calls and asks to see Lauren. In her office, Lisa tells Lauren that the Paris office is overwhelmed with work and needs an extra pair of hands... which means that Lauren's off to Paris, too! When she finds out she's going to help out backstage, Lauren is beaming. When Lisa asks Lauren how she'll be getting to the airport, Lauren laughs, asking if Lisa thinks she'd miss the trip a second time. Bursting into the intern room, Lauren shares the good news with Whitney. While Whitney says the news has made her day, Lauren says it's made her life. That night at dinner, Lauren shares her news with Brody. When she says she's leaving in just a few days, Brody doesn't seem pleased. When Lauren asks why he's upset about her traveling to Paris, Brody says that Parisian guys are all "stinky." Lauren jokingly says she'll find a guy that showers, but Brody turns all serious and asks if she wants to find a boyfriend. Lauren's caught off guard, especially when Brody admits that he hasn't had the best relationships in the past and is scared to make a serious commitment. Lauren says that if he really wanted to be with someone, he would. Cue the long stares, and both are left wondering what this all means for their relationship. Packing up a suitcase, Heidi seems to be preparing for a trip. When Spencer comes through the door, he asks why she's packing, and Heidi says she's heading home to Colorado to clear her head and give him some space. Spencer says he doesn't need space anymore; he knows what he wants. But Heidi has already made up her mind, and she's not sure when she's coming back. Spencer gives her a goodbye kiss and heads out, leaving Heidi in tears. Meanwhile, Lauren's in her apartment packing and gearing up for her big Paris trip. Zipping up her bag, Lauren hopes she's packed everything she needs. As she's walking out the door, she's surprised by Brody, who's hoping he can stop her from leaving. But Lauren says that the trip is for real. As he opens the car door for her, she promises she won't be gone long and plants a big kiss on his lips. As Lauren leaves to pick up Whitney, Heidi's driving to Colorado. As the sun sets, it looks like there's a lot of change on the horizon for The Hills girls.
Paris Changes Everything
As soon as things start to feel settled in 'The Hills', something comes along to shake everything up. After a rollercoaster engagement to Spencer, Heidi called it off and headed to Colorado. And, just when Lauren and Brody were starting to figure things out, Lauren went to Paris for the Crillon Ball. Now, Paris is about to change everything... Touching down in Paris, Lauren and Whitney are greeted by a chauffer, who hands them an itinerary. First things first - they need to pick up their ball gowns and the shoes for the debutantes who'll be making their debut at the Crillon Ball. Meanwhile, Heidi's hitting the slopes in Crested Butte, Colo., with her mom. For Heidi, the retreat has been a breath of fresh air and a way for her to gain clarity on the whole engagement fiasco. She decides that if Spencer really wants what's best for her, he's going to have to give her time and space. In Paris, Lauren and Whitney head to the Alberta Ferretti store, where they pick up their gorgeous ball gowns. Then there's just one last stop before they head to the hotel - they must pick up the debutantes' shoes at Colette. When they arrive, though, the store is closed. Uh oh! Back in 'The Hills', Spencer's little sister, Stephanie, pays Spencer a visit. He tells her that Heidi high-tailed it out of there after their last fight - but he's already come up with a plan to win Heidi back. He's going to chase her down in Colorado and get to the root of the problem. But Stephanie isn't stoked on the idea; she thinks he should give his girl some space. The next morning, Lauren and Whitney receive their itinerary for the day, saying they're expected at the Teen Vogue photo shoot - with the debutantes' shoes! Looks like they have to head back to Colette ASAP! Later, the Montags receive an unwelcome surprise when Spencer rolls into their sleepy Colorado town unannounced. Heidi's father is none too pleased when Spencer strolls up to the house uninvited. Spencer pleads his case, saying he only showed up in person because Heidi wasn't answering her phone. Heidi's dad reluctantly shows him inside to wait for Heidi. Meanwhile, at the Teen Vogue photo shoot, Lauren and Whitney are greeted by senior editor Kimball. Assigning the girls duties, Kimball sends Lauren to hair and makeup and tells Whitney be his "eyes and ears" by asking questions and getting quotes from the debutantes. During the photo shoot, Lauren receives a phone call from Audrina, who just got home from Les Deux. Audrina bumped into Brody and Frankie - and Brody was snuggling up to a new girl... who he's calling his girlfriend. Lauren's shocked. It only took him two days to replace her?! Arriving home from the slopes, Heidi finds Spencer on the couch with a dozen roses. Spencer says he made the trek because he wanted to apologize, but Heidi has nothing to say to him. Excited to be in Paris, Lauren and Whitney decide to meet up with the band Rock&Roll, who Audrina introduced them to back in L.A. When the girls arrive, guitarist Matthias shows immediate interest in Lauren. After learning she hasn't seen the Eiffel Tower yet, he offers to take her there. Under the city landmark, they celebrate her time in Paris by popping open a bottle of champagne. The next night, Lauren brushes up on her French by finding words to describe Brody... like "scum." As soon as she says she needs a "rebound," the guys from Rock&Roll text her, inviting her and Whitney out for a fancy night out on the town. Lauren doesn't have anything to wear, so she decides to stitch up the hem on her ball gown. Whitney thinks it's a recipe for disaster, but Lauren assures her that she's successfully done it before. Stateside, Spencer's still struggling to win Heidi over. During an awkward dinner, Heidi toasts her "amazing" parents while giving Spencer an icy glare. Instead of lavishing praise on him next, she asks if he's planning on staying long. When the temperature rises, Heidi's mom steps in, telling Spencer that Heidi needs some time to herself. Defensive, Spencer says he and Heidi didn't have any problems until he popped the question. Steaming, Heidi says their trouble stems from Spencer storming out on her... twice. Spencer calls her a hypocrite for running off to Colorado after an argument, but Heidi doesn't see it that way. In her adjusted ball gown, Lauren meets the Rock&Roll boys with Whitney. When a debutante escort shows up, Matthias becomes jealous. Jumping right to the point, Matthias asks Lauren if she's dating anyone. Lauren pointedly says she's single and admits she's sad she's leaving Paris so soon. When the girls realize it's getting late, they decide to leave. Matthias chases them, asking how come Lauren left without giving him a kiss. After a European double-cheeker, Matthias says they should all meet up again before the girls head back to 'The Hills'. Getting ready for the Crillon Ball, Lauren undoes the hem on her dress. As she finishes removing the stitches, she notices a big brown spot on the front - and back! It looks like a coffee stain, but Lauren swears she was really careful. Then she realizes she left the curling iron on when she put the dress down, causing a big burn on her Alberta Ferretti gown! As Lauren tears up, Whitney figures out a solution to the setback. She calls the store and secures a new dress. The girls race out of the hotel to pick up the new dress with an hour to spare. Out to dinner in Colorado, Heidi asks Spencer when he's leaving. The two are obviously on different pages, leading Heidi to think they've been fighting about more than just the wedding. She thinks they rushed into their relationship too quickly, putting too much pressure on them. Getting snippy, Spencer wonders why she doesn't just break up with him. Taking his words to heart, she tells him that when she returns to L.A., she wants him out of their apartment. On the night of the Crillon Ball, Whitney and Lauren are fully glammed out. Kimball asks Whitney to help identify the debutantes and their dresses as they walk into the room while Lauren takes photos. When they're finished, Kimball sends Lauren off on an errand and grabs a minute with Whitney. He tells Whitney that she doesn't seem that into her job, and she admits she wants to be more hands-on when it comes to fashion. Kimball suggests she pursue her dream rather than staying at Teen Vogue. With the Crillon Ball in full swing, Lauren gets a call from Matthieu. He wants to take her for a late-night tour on her last night in Paris. Lauren thinks it's the opportunity of a lifetime. But when he pulls up on his Vespa, she's not quite sure how to handle the dress situation. Stuffing her gown underneath her legs, she takes off on a ride that leaves the city whipping past her. In Colorado, Heidi walks Spencer to his car, where they decide it's best for them to go their separate ways for now. Looks like Crested Butte isn't the only thing that's frozen over this winter! When Whitney catches up with Lauren the next morning, Lauren relives her Vespa experience. When questioned about Brody, Lauren has no response. They knew Paris would change their lives, and Lauren indeed has a new perspective on things. The same goes for Whitney, who's decided she wants to leave her job at Teen Vogue. After a week in Paris, Lauren and Whitney head back to 'The Hills'- and reality.
Back To LA
Lauren's time in Paris has come to an end and now everything is different. Arriving back in The Hills, Lauren fills Audrina in on the latest gossip: Whitney might not want to work for Teen Vogue anymore. Could Whitney really move on and leave Lauren behind? The next day at Teen Vogue, Whitney meets with editor Lisa Love to talk about her future. She admits she got a job offer from Kelly Cutrone, who owns the full-service branding company People's Republic, and asks Lisa for advice before making such a huge decision. Lisa is surprisingly supportive and tells Whitney it sounds like a great opportunity that she shouldn't pass up. Meanwhile, at Bolthouse, Heidi and Kimberly discuss what's been going on since Heidi returned from Colorado. She reveals that she told Spencer to move out of their apartment. When Kimberly asks how Heidi will handle Spencer seeing other girls, Heidi says she doesn't want him dating, since they're not actually broken up. She says they just need some space so they can figure out what to do next. But Kimberly warns Heidi that she and Spencer may not see eye-to-eye when it comes to dating other people. And, sure enough, Spencer has his own ideas about the relationship. He tells his sister, Stephanie, that he's totally ticked about getting kicked out and considering dating other girls. Feeling confident, Whitney heads to People's Revolution for her interview. When Kelly Cutrone greets her, she quickly explains the job's demanding expectations. Impressed by Whitney's interest in styling and taking Lisa Love's recommendation into consideration, Kelly goes out on a limb and offers Whitney the job on the spot. But Whitney's excitement is replaced by fear when Kelly adds that by accepting the job, Whitney's making "a deal with the devil" and starting a whole new life. At lunch, Heidi and Stephanie discuss Spencer's plans to move in with his sister. Stephanie asks if Heidi cares about Spencer dating other girls and, again, Heidi insists that won't happen. She says the last time they talked, they agreed to try to work things out without seeing other people. But Heidi gets worried when Stephanie admits that Spencer's probably out for revenge and might date other girls just to hurt Heidi. Later, Lauren and Audrina get ready for a night of clubbing and Lauren reveals that she hasn't talked to Brody since hearing he was seen with a new girl while she was in Paris. At Les Deux, Lauren is having a great time checking out all the cute guys - until Brody walks in. After giving Frankie a hug, Lauren ignores Brody, angrily asking him where his girlfriend is. Brody plays dumb, saying he doesn't have a girlfriend. When Lauren shrugs him off, he starts yelling about her "boyfriend from Paris" and storms out. Lauren is left with a lot to think about, especially when Frankie tells her that she's overreacting. While Lauren and Brody's friendship teeters on the brink, Heidi and Spencer's relationship is quickly plummeting. As Spencer packs up his things while Heidi watches, the tension between them is thicker than ever. When Heidi asks Spencer whether he plans on seeing other girls, his only response is that he's going to give her lots of space. The next day, Lauren has lunch with Lo to talk about the Brody situation. Lo feels like this conversation just goes around in circles and it's time for Lauren to find a nice boy outside of her group of friends. At Teen Vogue, Whitney and Lauren are saying their goodbyes on Whitney's last day. As Whitney packs up her stuff, they discuss their new "long distance relationship" and how hard it will be to not see each other every day. Will Lauren be able to deal with losing another important person in her life?
An Unexpected Friend
Lauren is in for an unpleasant surprise on her first day back at the Fashion Institute. During class attendance, she hears Stephanie Pratt's name called. There's no answer. But before Lauren can breathe a sigh of relief, Stephanie breezes in. In New York City, Whitney preps for Fashion Week, her first assignment with People's Revolution. The NYC office is even more intimidating and hectic than the one in The Hills, but Whitney takes it all in stride. Owner Kelly Cutrone tells Whitney that she'll be running the fitting for Sass & Bide and helping out with their fashion show in the main tent. During the fitting, a woman from Sass & Bide questions one of the outfits, but Whitney decides to go with her gut and approves the look for the fashion show. Is it the right decision? Back in The Hills, Lauren and Stephanie make awkward eye contact during class. In no time, Stephanie texts Heidi, telling her that Lauren is just a few seats away. Meanwhile, Lauren texts Audrina, saying she hopes no drama ensues. The next day in class, Stephanie surprises Lauren by coming over to apologize about their fight awhile ago. Lauren says she understands that Stephanie was just being protective of Heidi and Spencer, and Stephanie says she's going to stop getting in the middle of things from now on. Afterwards, Stephanie meets Heidi at her apartment to help paint. When Heidi jokes about Stephanie and Lauren having a class together, Stephanie admits that she apologized to Lauren. Heidi doesn't understand why Lauren would accept Stephanie's apology and not hers. In the middle of the fashion show the next night, Whitney's skills are put to the test when the models are out of order as they head down the runway. After some confusion, Whitney manages to pull things together and make the show a success. At the end of the night, Kelly Cutrone approaches Whitney and tells her she's impressed with Whitney's work and she will be expecting a lot of good things from her in the future. Later, Lauren, Lo and Audrina discuss the Stephanie situation during dinner. Audrina and Lo say they don't trust Stephanie, but Lauren thinks Stephanie is nice and doesn't want to unfairly judge her based on Spencer's bad reputation. Really, how much harm could Stephanie do? At Stephanie's apartment that night, Spencer complains that it doesn't seem like his own sister is on his side. He feels like he can't talk to her about anything because she'll just tell Heidi or Lauren. Even though Stephanie insists that Spencer comes first, she tells Lauren everything that Spencer said the next day at school. When Lauren asks if Stephanie's "allowed" to talk to her, Stephanie realizes that it won't be pretty when Heidi and Spencer find out about newfound friendship.
When Spencer Finds Out...
All Lauren wants for her birthday is for everyone in to just stop fighting! Unfortunately, birthday wishes don't always come true. After class one day, Lauren invites Stephanie to her party, but Stephanie is hesitant to accept the invitation because she doesn't want to cause more drama than there already is. Eventually, though, she agrees to come. When Spencer stops by his old apartment to take the rest of his things, he asks Heidi whether he can date other girls. Heidi tells him she doesn't want to date anyone else, but if he wants to see other girls, he can go right ahead. The catch? If Spencer does start dating again, his relationship with Heidi is over. Meanwhile, Lo stops by Lauren's apartment to give Lauren a birthday present. As she's opening her gift, Lauren admits that Brody won't be at her party - but Stephanie will. Lo looks surprised by the news. That night, Stephanie comes home to a disaster. Spencer's eating her food and a giant fish tank is sitting in the middle of her living room. When she tries to lay down some roommate rules, Spencer laughs them off and assures her he's being productive - he just started Operation Win Heidi Back. Um, was asking Heidi if it's OK to date other girl's part of his master plan? When Stephanie shows up at S Bar for Lauren's birthday, Heidi's co-worker Kimberly is working the door. When Stephanie walks in, Audrina and Lo immediately start whispering about how she can't be trusted. At the same time, Lauren and Stephanie talk about putting the past behind them. First thing the next morning, Kimberly fills Heidi in on spotting Lauren and Stephanie acting like BFFs. Heidi's surprised and still doesn't understand why Lauren will talk to Stephanie but not her. When Kimberly leaves, Heidi immediately calls Spencer. They may be fighting, but Heidi and Spencer agree that Lauren and Stephanie's newfound friendship is totally unacceptable. The next day, Lauren and Brody meet for lunch for the first time since their fight at Les Deux. Brody admits to having a girlfriend named Cora and Lauren frets over having no potential love interests. When Stephanie comes up in conversation, Brody says he thinks Heidi and Spencer might be using her as a pawn in some crazy scheme against Lauren. He warns Lauren to watch her back. When Spencer confronts Stephanie that night, she defends her friendship with Lauren and says she wants to help Lauren and Heidi become friends again. Pissed, Spencer starts yelling at Stephanie, asking if she'll be hanging out with Brody next. When he won't let up, she breaks down and cries. In class, Stephanie tells Lauren that Spencer found out that she was at S Bar. She admits that she doesn't know why he wants to keep this fight going. Can't he just get over it? Later, Stephanie stops by Heidi's apartment to try to smooth things over. But Heidi reams her out for betraying both her and Spencer. When Stephanie asks what Heidi and Spencer did to Lauren to make her want nothing to do with them, Heidi just gives Stephanie an icy glare. She warns Stephanie to be careful around Lauren, claiming that Lauren will turn on her. Once again, Stephanie is caught in the middle. Why can't everyone just get along?
Just Be Careful
Lauren starts turning a little green with envy when Whitney fills her in on her new job at People's Revolution. Still just an intern at Teen Vogue, Lauren jealously admits that Whitney's new gig sounds like her dream job. But as glamorous as Whitney's job may sound, it's definitely not easy. Fashion Week in Los Angeles is quickly approaching and People's Revolution owner Kelly Cutrone warns her staff that the upcoming week will be full of long, hard hours and she expects complete devotion from everyone. When her co-worker Jessica drops the ball when it comes to celebrity outreach, Whitney steps up and makes a suggestion. While Whitney won some brownie points with Kelly, she may have just made her first enemy at her new job. Lonely at Teen Vogue, Lauren calls Whitney and tries to strike up a conversation. But Whitney's way too busy to talk to her BFF, so she cuts the conversation short. After hanging up, Lauren sighs and looks at Whitney's old desk. That night, Heidi and Stephanie have a long-overdue girls night out at Vice. Heidi hasn't been out partying with girlfriends in forever, so she's happy for the change of pace. When she spots Audrina across the room, she goes over to try to make amends. Heidi admits she's been feeling lonely and would like to hang out with Audrina again. After all, they were friends before Audrina even met Lauren. But Audrina says she doesn't want to get in the middle of things. While Audrina is impressed with Heidi's efforts, she doesn't plan on taking Heidi up on her offer to renew their friendship. At the gym, Lauren grills Whitney on her new job. Whitney says it's a million times more intense than Teen Vogue and invites Lauren to stop by the office. When Lauren sees Stephanie in class, Stephanie tells her that Heidi and Audrina were seen talking at Vice. Lauren looks really worried. When she gets home, she asks Audrina if it's true that she was talking to Heidi. Audrina admits they chatted but promises that she'd never go behind Lauren's back and hang out with Heidi. The next day, Lauren visits People's Revolution and winds up helping Whitney organize a rack of clothing. When one of Whitney's bosses sees how interested Lauren is in fashion, she asks Lauren to help out during Fashion Week. Lauren happily jumps at the opportunity. Could this lead to her and Whitney working together again? Meanwhile, a determined Heidi, desperate for friendship, decides to go to Lauren and Audrina's apartment under the guise of picking up some things she left behind when she moved out. Luckily, Audrina's the only one there, and Heidi immediately starts to gossip about Lauren and Stephanie's friendship. When Audrina doesn't have anything to say, Heidi takes it as her cue to leave... but not before asking Audrina to call her if she ever feels like hanging out. When Audrina fills Lauren in on the visit, Lauren is livid that Heidi was in her apartment. Could Heidi be trying to tear Lauren and Audrina apart?
Girls Night Out
Although Audrina promised Lauren that she wasn't interested in being friends with Heidi, it seems as though Audrina and Heidi are indeed on speaking terms. In fact, they're even hanging out! Heidi strolls up to Epic Records, where she and Audrina hit the cafeteria for lunch. Excited about spending time with Audrina again, Heidi says that the pair should have never landed square in the middle of the Lauren-Spencer drama. They're both ready to put the past behind them and kick off their renewed friendship with a girls' night out. On the other side of The Hills, Lauren heads to People's Revolution to lend a hand before Fashion Week. Owner Kelly Cutrone enlists Whitney and Lauren to help her cast models. Lauren snaps pics as Whitney pastes them on a board. When co-worker Jessica gets bumped out of her desk so that Lauren can use the space, she shoots a look at Whitney. While making a sandwich, Spencer learns that Stephanie's heading to S Bar to meet Heidi. Spencer seems visibly upset when Stephanie calls him a "couch potato" and peaces out for a night out on the town. It's girls' night out at S Bar for Audrina, Heidi and Stephanie. Audrina realizes she's in a lose-lose situation, knowing that she's bound to make "someone" - namely Lauren - mad by hanging with Heidi. Back at People's Revolution, Whitney's excited to be working with Lauren again. She tells Lauren that she might be able to score a job if she manages to impress Kelly Cutrone. When Kelly comes over, it looks like Lauren's already made a good impression - Kelly asks Lauren to work one of the fashion shows during Fashion Week. At S Bar, Audrina, Heidi and Stephanie crack some jokes about being single forever. But the laughs are cut short when Heidi sees Spencer walk into the bar and slide up to a group of girls. As he flirts and takes a couple of shots, Heidi flips out. Livid, she decides to split. Just as she's about to leave, Spencer comes over and an argument ensues. When Heidi calls Spencer out for flirting with other girls, he claims he was just being polite. Plus, he doesn't see her sitting home alone pining over him. Heidi quickly shoots back that she's spending the night with her girlfriends, not a bunch of guys. The next day, Audrina tells Lauren about her night at S Bar, giving all the details on the whole Heidi and Spencer scene. Unhappy about the fact that Audrina was hanging out with Heidi, Lauren warns that Heidi and Spencer might be befriending Audrina to get back at her for being nice to Stephanie. At the fashion show, Kelly Cutrone preps Whitney and Lauren, telling them to make sure the models find their way onto the runway. No screw ups! Meanwhile, having a late night at Bolthouse, Kimberly asks Heidi why she's down in the dumps. Heidi runs through her evening at S Bar, saying she doesn't understand how she can both love and hate one person so much. Heidi admits it's hard to see Spencer with other girls and wonders if he's over her. Kimberly assures her that there's no way Spencer can already be over their relationship. Upset, Heidi gives Spencer a ring, telling him to stop by the office so they can talk. Back at the fashion show, things are buzzing as Whitney and Lauren make sure that all of the models hit the runway on time. The show is a success, and Kelly Cutrone couldn't be happier with Whitney and Lauren's work. In fact, she's so impressed that she offers Lauren a job on the spot. Of course, Lauren happily accepts. Overhearing the exchange, Jessica looks stunned. Across The Hills, Spencer pulls up outside of Bolthouse and Heidi hops in his car. Heidi rips into him, saying if he wants to be single all he has to do is tell her. Spencer replies that she's the one who made him single. Who ever heard of a "relationship vacation" anyway? A frustrated Spencer says Heidi's delusional for thinking he's going to stick around forever waiting for her to decide when their hiatus ends. With that, Heidi gets out of the car and slams the door. Spencer speeds away as Heidi walks off alone.
A New Roommate
At People's Revolution, Lauren and Whitney chat while they're unpacking boxes at the new job. When Whitney asks how Audrina's been doing, Lauren says she's not really sure - her roommate's been a little MIA lately, and has been running into Heidi a lot. Whitney raises an eyebrow at the new development, and Lauren agrees that it's been a little awkward since they share an apartment... especially since Lauren wouldn't necessarily want Heidi on her guest list. Although Audrina should feel free to have friends over the apartment, Lauren doesn't want to feel uncomfortable in her own home. Back at the Hillside Villas, Lauren, Lo and Audrina are getting ready for a night out at the club. Sifting through Audrina's closet, Lauren talks about FIDM... which leads the conversation to Stephanie. In fact, Lauren's excited that she-Pratt may be coming out to the club tonight... until Lo wonders whether she'll bring Heidi with her. As Heidi picks shoes out of her closet, it seems that she's definitely signing on for a night out with Stephanie and company. When Heidi asks if Lauren's going to be there, Stephanie tells her not to freak out. But, Heidi's optimistic - now that she's on the outs with Spence, maybe Lauren will be more willing to play it cool. After all, it's "water under the bridge"... right?! At GOA, Stephanie spots Audrina's ex, Justin Bobby over at the bar... and spies Lauren and Audrina sitting at a table, looking like they're in a good mood. When Lauren goes off to grab a drink, Heidi takes the opportunity to slide over next to Audrina. She tells Audrina that she's seen Justin, and Audrina's surprised. Sounds like Audrina hasn't had a run-in with her ex in a while. While the two have a heart-to-heart about Audrina's ex-bf, Lauren and Lo see Heidi talking to Audrina. When Lauren arrives back with her drink, she asks everyone to scoot over. It's clear that Lauren is less-than-excited to have Heidi sitting at her table. Heidi's feeling the same vibes, and says she's getting ready to leave... until Justin Bobby shows up to the table and Audrina urges her to stay. As the three hang out, Heidi mentions that Audrina was friends with her before Lauren's arrival in LA. With Lauren in ear-shot, Heidi says it's silly that they can't all be friends because of Audrina's living situation. Having heard enough, Lauren bolts, wanting to go home. The next day, Heidi tells Stephanie that GOA didn't go as well as she'd expected. Although Stephanie thinks the table was a step in the right direction, Heidi really thought Lauren would be warmer in Spencer's absence. At Lauren's apartment, Lo drops by for a visit. When the two realize how much time Lo spends at the apartment, Lauren suggests all of the girls move in together. Lauren's lease is up soon, and she's ready for a fresh start and a bigger space. Lauren says she wants Audrina to move in with them too, but Lo is skeptical - would Audrina really like to move in with two roommates? Plus, would she bring both Heidi AND Justin Bobby back to the apartment? The two agree that situation is not allowed. Out to dinner with Justin tells Audrina that he's shaped up - he's gotten his priorities straight and moved to the beach. Audrina's ready to be drama free, and tells him she's excited that things are going smoothly with Heidi. The next morning, Lauren and Audrina share a grapefruit and recap their nights. Audrina says that Justin's cleaned up his act... he even refrained from burping in her face! Lauren asks if they're friends, but Audrina says there will always be something between them. Audrina suggests he's her version of Jason or Stephen, but Lauren says she stopped going back to Jason. Audrina shrugs it off, saying that it was good to see him. At Stephanie's apartment, Heidi pops in for a visit and finds Spencer on the couch instead. As the two catch up, Heidi reveals that Stephanie was hanging out with Lauren at GOA. Spencer's surprised that Heidi would even show up at the same club as Lauren. He refuses to feel badly for her, saying he doesn't want to hear about her trips to clubs... especially ones that involve Lauren. Out to lunch, Lo and Lauren talk about their living situation. Lauren says she hasn't talked to Audrina about it yet, so when Audrina shows up, Lauren brings up the lease. Lo asks Audrina about her plans, and when Audrina says she hasn't thought about it, Lo says that she and Lauren have "kind of" been looking into getting a house. Lo says it's going to be a weird change, but Audrina says she's up for anything... if they want her to move in. Lauren and Lo both say yes, but the conversation definitely registers on the awkward meter.
A Date With The Past
It's official - Lauren, Lo and Audrina are roommates. Walking into the new digs, the girls scope out all of the benefits to their new living arrangements. The pad comes complete with palm trees, a huge hang out room, and a whole separate little house for Audrina. That's right - Audrina has her own private little place behind the main house with Lauren and Lo. Finishing their mini tour in the kitchen, the girls all agree that the house is the perfect place for parties. Lauren decides that they'll have to throw a huge housewarming party to celebrate. When she and Lo later run through the guest list over coffee, Lauren lets out a name that perks Lo's ears up - Stephen Colletti might be dropping by. Yes, that Stephen - Lauren's former Laguna Beach fling. Lauren swears his visit isn't a "thing," even if Lo has her hopes up. But, Lauren can't completely deny interest in hanging out with Stephen - she admits to still having feelings for him. At another java house, Stephanie meets Spencer and tells her brother that she's considering going to Lauren's housewarming party. When Spencer starts calling out his sister for loyalty lines, Stephanie throws it back in his face, saying Spencer once befriended her ex-boyfriend and always had him in the house. Spencer disagrees, saying the ex was just a date to a semi-formal. Regardless, he doesn't want to tell Heidi that Stephanie will be showing up to Lauren's house. But, Stephanie's prepared... in fact, she plans on bringing the news to Heidi herself. Stephanie thinks that Heidi's over the grudge with Lauren - it's just Spencer that's posing a problem. Having heard enough, Spencer splits, leaving Stephanie alone with her iced boba. Back at Lauren, Lo and Audrina's new place, the girls are getting ready for their big fiesta. Lauren says that Stephanie might show, and Audrina lets loose that Justin's going to be in attendance. When Lauren asks Audrina to rewind and talk about Bobby coming to visit, Audrina's taken aback. Audrina feels even more awkward when she learns Stephen's coming for the party... and she's the last one to find out. At Heidi's, Stephanie shares the news that she's getting ready to go to Lauren's housewarming party. Heidi's smile turns to a frown immediately, and Stephanie's surprised. Sick of feeling guilty, Stephanie doesn't want to always feel like she needs to check in with Heidi and Spencer before sending an RSVP to Lauren's parties. Heidi suggests that she's feeling badly because she knows she's doing something wrong. While Heidi doesn't want Stephanie to be shady about her whereabouts, she can't understand why Stephanie would want to be friends with her enemy. Although Heidi says Stephanie should do what she wants, Stephanie ultimately decides she'd better stay and watch a movie with Heidi. With the party in full force, Lo points out that Brody's new girlfriend is pretty... and has "very large breasts." Seems like perfect timing for Stephen to walk in with a present. Surprising Lo from behind, Stephen sends the girls into big smiles. He's impressed with her new space and the tiki torches. Speaking of impressed, the crowd is shocked when Justin Bobby comes in with a new short haircut. Audrina and Justin go for a talk, where Audrina recaps her earlier conversation with Lauren. Justin says their relationship is none of her roommates' business. She says she's ready to just do what she wants. Meanwhile, Lauren tells Stephen that Audrina and Justin have been hanging out in the back house a lot. She suggests her home isn't "comfortable" yet. Despite the "Lauren-esque" decor, she's not completely settled with the situation. Stephen says to give it time, and suggests the two go out for a meal to catch up without all of the party chaos around them. As Stephanie and Lauren check out the boys on campus, and Lauren says her friend should have shown up to her party. Stephanie explains that it's hard when Spencer and Heidi play the loyalty card. Lauren doesn't mean to get her into trouble, but says that her parties are a fun time. When Stephanie asks about cute boys, Lauren lets Stephanie in on her rendezvous with Stephen. Getting ready for her night out with Stephen, Lauren tells Lo that she's not sure if it's a date. Lauren's not sure, but it was his idea to go to dinner... and she is excited about it. Out at Il Cielo, Stephen tells Lauren that her house has his stamp of approval. As the two catch up, Lauren tells Stephen that she thinks Audrina's back with Justin... but she hasn't heard it from Audrina. The two don't talk about boys anymore. Stephen tells her to walk over to Audrina's portion of the house, but Lauren says she's not that kind of roommate. Moving over to Lo, Lauren suggests that Lo's been giddy about her hanging out with Stephen again. Stephen says that lots of people have been hoping things would happen between the pair, including their parents. But, Stephen makes it clear - he just wants to have a nice, platonic dinner with a good friend, settling the whole 'is it a date?' issue. The two joke on the car ride home about old times, and Lauren gives her old friend a hug goodbye. At home, Lo's ready for all of the details. Lauren says some friends are just better off as friends. She feels like she's in high school when she's with him... and she's a far leap from her Laguna days. Lo's glad that the two at least had a good time, and hopes that maybe one day they can get it together and get married.
No Place Like Home
After several fights with Spencer, it looks like Heidi's ready to start the ball rolling on the rest of her life. When she meets with Brent Bolthouse at work, she tells her boss that she's ready for more responsibility. Now that she has more free time on her hands, she wants to dive in head first - and if that means traveling or re-locating, so be it. The timing couldn't be better for Brent, who's looking to expand the Hyde brand into other markets. Heidi's going to have to be more actively involved in his projects if she wants to be a part of the movin' and shakin' at Bolthouse... starting with the casino in Las Vegas. Over at Lauren, Audrina and Lo's new pad, Lauren and Lo are spending time sunning at the pool. But where's Audrina? Lauren says she was afraid to wake her roomie up, so opted to let her come out on her own. As the two talk about shopping plans, Audrina emerges from her chateau in back. She's headed to the studio for work, where she's going to check out Alkaline Trio. The band's recording an album, and she and Chiara are going to make sure everything's squared away. She asks if Lauren and Lo want to stop by and check out the scene, but Lo doesn't seem enthused. Lauren suggests Audrina text her the address. And, if they can't meet up there, she wants the three to meet for dinner - they haven't fully celebrated the new living situation yet. Back at Bolthouse, Heidi tells her friend Kimberly that Brent wants her to step up as a project manager. Between opening new hotels and jet-setting to Vegas, Heidi's sold on the glamour of her new spot. She starts in a few days, and is excited to leave LA and clear her head. At Pulse Studios, Audrina and Chiara listen in on Alkaline Trio's recording session. When Lauren and Lo arrive, Audrina's glad the pair made it. But, after only hanging for a couple of minutes, the two head out for food... leaving Audrina in the studio. So much for a roommate dinner out. Although Lauren wishes Audrina could have come, her roomie has to stay behind for work. Dining at Luckyfish, Lauren and Lo wonder whether or not Audrina's upset. She feels badly that they left, but Lo says she didn't feel "cool enough" to hang out in the studio. Lauren wants to get Audrina a present for her living space, but hopes that Audrina doesn't stay secluded. While Lo and Lauren have shared their lives since the third grade, Lauren's been having a hard time getting Audrina to open up since the move. On a visit to Heidi's, Stephanie tells her friend that Spencer's going to get the boot. Her place is a mess, and she wants her brother out. As the two talk about moving, Heidi drops the bomb that she's going to be heading to Las Vegas for work for a while. Heidi says there's nothing holding her back - if Spencer's going to move on, she needs to. While Stephanie says Spence doesn't want to date anyone else, Heidi's not so sure... and she doesn't want his sister spreading the gossip on her new job opportunity - it isn't any of his business. Back at home, Lo and Lauren play with their brand new puppy, Chloe, from the shelter. When Audrina comes in, the two start to giggle - the puppy is a surprise. As they all dote on the dog, Audrina asks where the puppy's going to stay. Lo suggests one of their rooms, and makes mention of Chloe having two mommies, leaving Audrina out. Taking her cue, Audrina heads back to her living quarters. As Spencer sits on the couch, Stephanie complains about her brother's lack of cleanliness. Sick of his behavior, Stephanie says she's tired of his controlling ways. She wants him out... now. Spencer calls his sister pathetic for hanging out with Lauren, and says he'll be gone by the end of the day. Hanging out with Justin Bobby at home, Audrina feels out of place in her own kitchen. As she makes the boy some breakfast, she explains that Lauren and Lo have been a little awkward lately. Justin sympathizes, asking why she wants to stay in a place where she feels weird vibe. Audrina explains that she chose the place in the back - she's a more private person, anyway. But, she doesn't want to feel weird around her friends. Every time she makes an effort with Lo, she gets denied. When Justin says she should look for her own space, Audrina starts to think it might be a good idea. Ready for the next step in her career, Heidi arrives at the SBE private jet with Sam and Brent. Now that she has more time, the three are headed to Vegas. Sam asks how Spencer's going to react when he hears Heidi's headed to Sin City. Although Heidi doesn't think he'll care, Sam is pretty sure Spence is going to lose his mind. Kicked out of Stephanie's, Spencer makes his way to Heidi's apartment. When he opens the door to an empty apartment, he realizes something's wrong. Did Spencer miss his chance at 'Operation Win Back Heidi'?
The Next Move Is Yours
Apparently, three's a crowd at Lauren, Lo and Audrina's new pad. Feeling left out and awkward out in the pool house at her new home, Audrina decides she should look for a place of her own. Visiting a potential loft with Justin Bobby in tow, Audrina admires the view, but worries that the place is too far away from everyone. But, as Justin points out, Audrina likes getting away and doing her own thing. Audrina agrees that she's practically living alone at the moment, so she might as well get a place of her own - sans tension. Meanwhile, Stephanie finds her brother Spencer over at Heidi's apartment, where he spent the night waiting for Heidi to come home. When she didn't return, he started losing his mind and pumped Stephanie for information of her whereabouts. After making Spencer swear not to do anything drastic, Stephanie tells her brother that Heidi's on a business trip to Las Vegas with her boss from Bolthouse. And, she reveals, it may not be just a visit to Sin City, because if she likes the work, she may move to Vegas. Even though Stephanie advises him not to do anything rash, a shocked Spencer tells his sister that they're headed for the Vegas Strip to find his almost bride. At the casinos with SBE CEO Sam Nazarian and her boss, SBE partner Brent Bolthouse, Heidi diligently pens notes and takes in the company's plans for a new Las Vegas casino and resort. As she admires the view from the presidential suite, she assertively assures the group that she's excited to be a part of the project team. Working hard at People's Revolution, Whitney asks Lauren how her new living situation's going. Lauren admits that she rarely sees Audrina since she started living in the back house. Whitney asks if they're drifting apart, but Lauren says she can't see a reason for the sudden space between them. Whitney points out that Lauren and Lo have several years of friendship that pre-date their relationship with Audrina, and notes that her roomie may feel intimidated by the closeness the two share. She suggests a roommate dinner to get everything out in the open - especially since Lauren's not even sure Audrina wants to live with her anymore. As Pratt siblings Stephanie and Spencer drive through Las Vegas, it looks like "Operation Win Heidi Back" is in full force with the family. Spencer pushes Stephanie to call Heidi to find out her location. When Spencer learns she's at the Palazzo working over drinks, he speeds toward the posh hotel. Abandoning Stephanie at the valet, Spencer strolls into the club and straight to Heidi's table. Interrupting her business dinner, he tells Heidi he needs a moment outside and walks away. Clearly mortified, Heidi begins to lay into Spencer and reams him out for disrupting her during what is clearly an important meeting with her employers. Undaunted, Spencer makes his case and says he needs to talk to her, that he's realized how much he loves her and wants to be with her and says he he wants to get his life together. Seemingly unmoved, Heidi says she finally feels like she's on the right path and doesn't want Spencer to get in the way of her progress. However, when she says she still wants to make their relationship work, Spencer practically begs her not to move to Las Vegas. When she returns to the table, Sam makes a hasty exit. Heidi quickly apologizes to Brent for the interruption, but he's not going to let it drop. Brent tells Heidi to get her relationship under control - she's in the big leagues now, and only has one shot with Sam. Before walking away, Brent tells Heidi she has some decisions to make. In L.A., Lauren and Lo cook up a crab dinner and wonder what's holding up Audrina. Lauren sent out the dinner invite, but her erstwhile roomie is absent from the table. While Lo downs some cheese (and cheekily notes that her butt doesn't need it), she expresses concern that she doesn't really know Audrina. She says she feels nervous going to Audrina's house out back and doesn't know why. Lauren says she thinks it may be because Lo's moved in and the two of them are spending more time together and that Lauren's spending less time with Audrina as a result. Lauren decides she's just going to talk to Audrina about the situation and get it over with before it becomes too big a deal. But as they prepare to set the table, they see Audrina stroll by, headed out for the night, and there are curious shrugs all around as looks like it'll be just two for dinner. It's morning in Las Vegas and Brent's waiting outside for Heidi. Sam pulls up in his town car ready to roll, concerned about a potential backup at the airport and getting the private jet off the ground soon. but Heidi's missing in action and hasn't been picking up her phone. After one last message, Brent gets into the car, seemingly leaving Heidi behind without a way home to L.A. But, it appears that Heidi has taken Brett's advice and she has indeed made some decisions. Coming down the escalator with Heidi and Stephanie, Heidi heads back to L.A. with her boy. Later, when they arrive at what has recently been her apartment, it looks like their relationship vacation is over as they both head inside. At home in Lo's bedroom, Lauren talks with her about the growing situation with Audrina. Lo says she doesn't feel welcome in Audrina's digs, that she fears that the roommate tension may worsen, and says she finds the awkwardness to be "kind of ridiculous." Sympathizing with Audrina, Lauren reminds Lo that they have 12 years of friendship under their belt, and that Audrina likely feels she can't compete with that. Lo says she wants to live with her best friends and have a fun house, but she's not sure Audrina's up for it. Hoping to stem a potentially bad thing with Audrina, Lauren faces the music and drops by the back house for a chat. After complimenting Audrina's decorating, she decides to get right into it and says it's weird that they never see each other anymore. Audrina says she feels hesitant to come upstairs in the main house - as if she doesn't belong. Lauren says she wants her to come in and that's she's welcome there. She recounts how they were all so excited to move in together, but since they made the move, they've been so busy doing their own things that there's been no time for any bonding. Lauren doesn't know what's up, but she knows they're growing apart and she's bummed out. Explaining her side, Audrina tells Lauren that she feels like she doesn't always pay attention, or chooses Lo over her. Lauren disagrees, but Audrina assures her it's been different lately. Now that Lo's in the picture, Lauren's been distant. Upset, Lauren says she didn't come over to fight. She's invited Audrina up to the house for dinner, and is always at the house and ready to talk. Audrina explains that she already had dinner plans, and says it's not always about Lauren... she says Lo's the one pushing them apart. Through tears, Lauren says that Lo hasn't tried to push them apart. She insists that she doesn't let the opinions of others impact her friendships. With nothing more to say, a teary-eyed Lauren leaves Audrina's and heads back to the main house alone.
