Odysseus After Jimmy returns to Los Angeles, he attempts to make amends with Gretchen, leading to their first confrontation. Lindsay and Edgar enjoy their new friends-with-benefits arrangement while Edgar tries to show Jimmy that Gretchen isn't the only person he abandoned. This Is Just Marketing Jimmy learns that his literary novel is being marketed as erotica; Gretchen realizes she's been letting Jimmy off easy; Edgar and Lindsay babysit Tallulahm and Lindsay learns for the first time that she's capable of love; and Edgar tries a new technique to pick up women. Fog Of War, Bro Gretchen has moved back into the house and plays mind games with Jimmy, sabotaging his first interview for the new book. Seeing an opportunity in Gretchen's return to the house, Edgar and Lindsay plot to get Jimmy and Gretchen back together. There's Always A Back Door Edgar takes Jimmy on a "man date" in an effort to emotionally bond with him while Gretchen discovers some startling news about the new guy she's seeing. Lindsay attempts to make friends at work. Not A Great Bet Gretchen goes home for the birth of her brother's baby, but instead ends up reconnecting with a friend from her past who inadvertently reveals why Jimmy may have left her. A Bunch Of Hornballs Jimmy goes out of town for a romance and erotica fiction convention and Gretchen throws a divorce for Lindsay, leading to an unintended deepening of Gretchen's relationship with Boone. Also: Edgar's friend Max gets him to overspend on party planning. Worldstar! Lindsay's mom comes to town, shedding light on the origin of Lindsay's issues, while Jimmy attempts to get over Gretchen by hooking up with someone from his past. Meanwhile, Edgar struggles to reconcile his new writer life with his old veteran life. Dad-Not-Dad Jimmy spends a day with a woman from his past and attempts to fit in with her friends while Gretchen attempts to impress Boone's ex-wife. Lindsay reconnects to a former father figure and Edgar, prompted by Max, buys a fancy car he can't afford. From The Beginning, I Was Screwed Gretchen participates in a family tradition with Boone and his daughter while Jimmy competes on an NPR game show in an attempt to regain some literary cred. Lindsay's desire to help people leads her back into Paul's orbit, and Edgar attempts to deepen his friendship with Max. Like People Gretchen spends the day with Boone and his daughter in an attempt to distract herself from having slept with Jimmy the previous night, while Jimmy tries to prove to himself he's moved on. Lindsay attempts to save Olivia from getting too close to the unreliable Gretchen, and Edgar trails Max to figure out why they're no longer writing partners. It's Always Been This Way Jimmy and Gretchen go for a long drive to force a conclusion on the confusing state of their relationship. Edgar finds closure with Max while Lindsay figures out a way to solve Becca, Vernon, and Paul's problems all at once.
