Round 1 ends at Mojave's Airplane Graveyard. Night Leg The teams race at night for the second leg, aiming to finish at Eagle Army Base in Firebaugh, Cal. Eagle Field To The Sacremento Rail Yard The third leg begins with the mysterious disappearance of maps as the teams point their cars toward the Sacramento Rail Yard. Sacremento To Carson City Round 4 runs from Sacramento to Carson City. One team finagles a police escort; three teams compete on a flaming dirt track. Carson City To Fernley Raceway Round 5 is the longest leg of the race, running across the Nevada desert from Carson City to Reno's Fernley Raceway. Nevada To Oregon Round 6 of the race crosses into Oregon, with one overconfident team stopping for burgers at a drive-thru; another team is eliminated. Lakeview To Oakridge, Ore. In Round 7, a team fakes running out of fuel to see who will slow down to help, while another benefits from a police stop by getting useful directions from the officer. Oregon To California A forest fire forces a detour in Round 8, with one team playing mind games with another during down time. Sonoma Dunes To Shasta In Round 9, the final four teams are slowed by road work; a navigator falls asleep on duty, leading to friction with a teammate.
